Just wondering why FG/Lab havent come out against tolls, full stop. If we pay taxes then when theres no capacit constraint and so no road pricing issues, why not say NO to tolls.
Imagine that it would be a fairly popular idea....

Tolls are another source of revenue for the governmet. Even if a toll bridge/road isn't operated by the governemt, they still take a healthy slice of it in tax from the owner.
No party would say no to it.

It wouldn't get too many votes and it is just a populist notion that would cost us more in the long term. You don't have to use tolls excluding the M50 as other tolled routes have an alternative untolled route.

So you want the state to pay a few billion to buy them out?
