    6 max, Effective stacks $60, .25/.50

After everyone limps I make it $3.50 on the button with AKo, SB reraises to $9.50....

Do I raise? Or call and reasses on the flop with position?

    nothing to note on villian

I dont know how games at this level play, but in reasonably aggressive preflop games I would never fold this hand vs unknowns - id prob 4 bet here, probably shove

    Im never folding here.

As 4 betting has been a topic of recent discussion here I was looking for opinions.

i only realised earlier on that it turns out what i thought was 3betting is actually 4betting :o lol

    i think i'd call here.

call. you dont know anything about his range and you have position on him.
    Reassess on the flop

i never really played this low so i can't be certain, but i would be amazed if the games were agressive enough for a 4bet to be the best move here, unless you have seen signs that this guy is very agressive or a total fish.i suppose shoving isn't horrible, but i suspect most people at lower stakes aren't really reraising with anything but premium hands most of the time.

i would usually call here and see what happens,if it was AKs i would call here 100% of the time, with AKo i would be a little more inclined to shove, but against an unknown you're probably better off calling, especially with 120bb stacks.
also,in general getting into the habit of getting it all in preflop with AK isn't really a great idea till you get to about 3/6 or 5/10,unless the games have changed a lot.

To a lot of players AQ, AJ and AT are the nuts at this level, most of the time you are racing, sometimes you are dominating, very slim chance of being up against KK or AA.

Yeah I've been playing alot of 1/2 recently and I'm happy to get AK AIPF against most people.

    really?
huh, maybe the games have changed,or maybe i'm thinking more of 2/4,but i always felt i needed a reason to get all in against someone with AK,against a randomer i wouldn't be thrilled about getting it all in for 120 BBs.

one think i forgot to mention is that i would be a lot more inclined to get all in if i was out of position, but in position here i still like a call, however ian and bohsman probably have more experience in these games so i presume they have a point.

Against the semi decent grinders, 3 betting is all the rage from the blinds. if I'm OTB and raise to 7, BB makes it 25, I usually make it 100 and call a shove (I do this with a wider range than AK though obviously)

Against the fish, they'll call you with ATo, AJs and all kinds of holdings, so getting it aipf is definitely +EV. I've come across aces once from a shortstack and every other time i've been a large favourite or else racing.

I suppose this is the 3rd time I had encountered this hand in the last week or so and it led me to look for consensus as I didnt want to be swayed by my own results based thinking.

I stacked off against AA and KK after shoving the previous times. In the hand in question I called preflop he stacked off against me with QQ on a AAJJx board so I buddy listed him as not being able to drop a hand.

About 2 orbits later the same scenario occured preflop but with a different player, again I just called. This time I had AcKc on a KxQc10c giving me a draw to the absolute nuts, I called him down for a surprisingly cheap amount for him to show AA.

I think im still out on the best course of action and even ppl on the thread are split to some extent. Maybe it just boils down to your personal style. I suppose the decision is made easier also if you have a gauge on the player.
