PSP 2 in 1 multicable doesnt work!

I just got a PSP 2 in 1 multicable on ebay - it is meant to allow for data transfer from your PSP to your PC, and also to charge your battery (see item number 160086449814 on ebay if you want to see exactly what I am talking about).

However - it simply does not work for me! Has anyone else come across something like this, and if so did you have similar problems? The box it comes in has insanely bad grammar on it, it is obviously from Hong Kong or somewhere like that.

It does not charge the PSP through the USB cable (I have tried 2 different computers, one with USB1, another with USB2 - neither worked). The specifics of the problem is that it will power the PSP without running off batteries, however if I leave the PSP power cable attached in order to just charge up the battery, it does not charge up the battery at all. If I look at ‘battery details’ in the PSP options screen it indicates very clearly whats going on – if I attach my own charger it reads the ‘power source’ as ‘external’, and ‘battery status’ as ‘charging’. However with the USB power lead, it reads the ‘power source’ as ‘external’, but ‘battery status’ has nothing written beside it (if it was charging it should read ‘charging’)

I also cannot get the USB cable working for transferring data between my computer and PSP – however to be honest I don’t mind this at all as I really only wanted something to charge my PSP in my workplace, but this cable does not do that at all despite clearly having it described on the box as ‘allows recharging your PSP through USB port of PC’

Rightly annoying! I have contacted the seller to see if they'll refund or something, but i guess i wanted to see here has anyone else come across this before, and also to let this serve as a warning to anyone else thinking of buying one of these ...
