I got some vouchers for Christmas for Game and I think it's high time I went and spent them on something and the only thing I can think of that I'd like is the Wii.
Thing is I haven't been into Game in ages and whenever I have been into the likes of Xtra-Vision or GameStop they have large signs saying that the Wii is out of stock. I'm surprised at this really as it's nearly March!

Anywhoo, I'm in Dublin city centre but I'd be willing to travel a wii! bit to get one, so does anyone know of any Game stores stocking it?

Dawson St have them today.. well, they have them at 12:30!

Apparently 9 were delivered to Ilac Centre today, and they were expecting to get rid of them by 11 o'clock! I was told that they get asked 20-30 times per day if they have stock, and they are still only getting odds and sods of deliveries.

Luckily I saw a woman in front of me getting one, so I chanced my arm. It's a steep price at €315 inc a game from a list (which doesn't feature Zelda, Warioware or Excite Truck, so I went for Rayman), but I've been waiting for so long now I just wanted to get it!

Xtra vision will order them for you they told me nintendo wont send them any unless they have a definate order so they need a €50 deposit. Ordered mine in rathmines yesterday, girl behind the counter said I would definately have it in a week at most, we will see!!

I was in the Square in Tallaght yesterday, saw two guys walkin out of Game with Wiis when I was walkin in. When I was buyin my game (Excite Truck) I mentioned to the guy behind the counter, and he said they'd got their first decent shipment in since the launch, 20 consoles, yesterday, and at that stage there was only 1 left.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I paid €50 deposit in Baggot Street four weeks ago (Jan 24th) and despite frequent calls to customer service and the store itself, there's nary a sign of the console arriving.

I guess I'll have to cancel the order, and get my deposit back, but Xtravision are tools about that sort of thing, demanding that you talk to customer service, who will send you a cheque, rather than crediting your card in-store, [ot]as I discovered to my cost after owning one of their POS Mirai TVs for 6 days. [/ot] Hopefully I can use the deposit as prepayment against a game.

Argos in Galway don't have them anyway. Argos' check and reserve service is a bit of a joke anyway, I cheked for a wii last week and the automated service said they were in stock. Went to my local argos lo and behold no wii's to be found.

I was talking to a guy smyths and he said that by march wii's should be on general sale, (in galway at least).

I checked in Argos so many times that I didn't have to look up the number in the catalogue anymore! It's 568/3257 if you're wondering. I would take detours when walking around town, just to drop into every Argos possible!

I thought the argos check and reserve for the wii didnt work any more?

Any chance of posting a link for it? Might keep an eye out in work

There is no link that I know of, I just use the check and reserve telephone number to see if its in stock, but like I said it doesn't seem to work very well.

I think the number is 01 216 16 16, but check your argos catalogue to make sure

    Hi guys,
I thought Argos was defo the place top get them. I got mine back before the new year there, they were so reloable.

I am finding it SO hard to understand that they are still hard to get!

    Stupid Nintendo!!

If I had a euro for every time I'd been asked about Wii stock, I'd be a very rich woman. We get about 10-15 Wiis a week in the branch of Game where I work, in general they sell within an hour of coming into stock.

You can hold on one for me! (A boards discount would be nice too!)

Had my wii booked in xtra vision Rathmines from last week and was told it I would definately have it by today. Just rang there and was told they had got none in today(wont be in tomorrow thur is delivery day) Guy working there said they only get 1 in a week and asked me how far down the list I was, said I didnt know and asked him to check and he said he couldnt check he didnt have the list. What a joke they are, should have booked it in smiths..

Totterdells in Dun Laoghaire had Wii boxes in the window today. I didn't check to see if they actually had them in stock though.

If general electronic shops are selling Wiis does that mean supply has got better? And the Wii's extremly poplular?

Does anyone know anywhere that has them in stock at the moment? I put my name down for one in Smyths in Carrickmines last week but no joy so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭CrazyTalk

I have one reserved in Smyths in Blanchardstown, gonna get it tomorrow hopefully, they seemed to have some last week but I had to preorder because of the lines and all. So I guess Smyths is a good bet

According to their website Smyths aren't expecting any in until March 15th.
    :(

takes about 2 weeks to come in once you have a deposit on,and ask a manager for the list.

Got mine in Liffey Valley Game today. Does anyone know how to get the wifi working, does DHCP work or do I have to use a static IP.

And right you are. I was so dissapointed when the girl at the counter told me I'd have to wait another week.

Anyway, nothing I can really do about it

You could always go buy one somewhere else. I'm just going to use my deposit in Smyths to buy a game or something.

I'll see what happens next Thursday (when they're supposed to be back in apparently). If somethings screws up then, then I might to try somewhere else :P

Apparently they're easier to get in the City Centre, or so I'm told

They seemingly lasted over a day and a half this time, as opposed to 6 secs....

for the record, the Game on Henry st was the one to keep their stock longest....

Jesus, I can't believe it's the middle of March and Wii's still aren't freely available!
