I was just talking to a sales rep in an xtra vision store who seemed to know a good bit about the launch. According to him, after the luanch shipment, europe wont be getting any more consoles till Jan '08 because sony will be only shipping to the US and asia again. Sounds dodgy to me.

Amyone else know if this is true?

It'll most like end up like the Wii, They'll be shipped, But they won't be on the shelves anytime soon after release.

Although with the price, They might be.

was in new york recently and they were in most places, i could have picked one up off the shelves and gotten it (had i wanted it/enough money to be able to buy it)

Stories like that are only to make people pre order and take out mini loan to buy the HMV bundle pack.
After the initial sale more will be available in a few weeks

Is it a coincidence that sony have waited til the SSIAs have all matured?
At least folk can afford to buy a few games and an extra controller with the new console!

i'd really like to think so. i doubt the brits, french, germans etc. would be pleased if sony waited for ireland before launching a console...

    Hahaha.
Sony board metting : "We're going for a worldwide release date", "No wait, Ireland get the SSIA's a few months later, we better hold up Europe until then".

stranger things have happened tbh, consider the fact that per capita (after japan) the irish public are sony slaves.
