rusi taleyarkhan who discovered a possible cold fusion reaction by bombarding a solvent with neutrons and sonic waves has recently been exonerated of accusations of scientific misconduct following the verification of his results by another scientist.

does the independent verification by the other scientist mean that taleyarkhan has really discovered cold fusion?
i'm confused, but this seems like it would be important.

In short, no. He was just vindicated of purposely fixing the results.

I think if i remember correctly when you check for cold fusion one of the tell-tale signs is neutrons being emitted, and that's what he got. But if you read your attached link you see that he actually had to bombard it with neutrons to get it to work and in some strange way it was these neutrons he was detecting...seems like a rookie mistake but there ya go!

    from that article:
claiming that bombarding a solvent with neutrons and sound waves produced tiny bubbles that triggered nuclear fusion reactions.

these tiny bubbles that "triggered" the nuclear fusion, are they caused by the neutrons that the solvent was bombarded with? and is the solvent just "reflecting" the neutrons to give the appearance of neutron emittence?
