Tribeca pulling out of US Market - Doyles Room, BetUS and GoldenPalace

Tribeca Tables Poker Network have announced that all US customers will be blocked from playing on their supported online poker sites, including Doyles Room, BetUS and GoldenPalace, effective at the end of this month.

The move was announced back in November when Tribeca merged with Playtech, but a date wasn't provided and many of the affected websites have reportedly been caught off-guard as they were expecting to be given more time to find a new network.

Doyles Room is reportedly in the late stages of developing it's own software, and the company is now hoping to have it ready for a seamless switch before the February 28th deadline. If the new software isn't launched in time, there may be a short period in which US customers will be blocked from playing on Doyles Room.

Bluffmagazine.com will keep you updated on this story as it develops.

I think Doyles have given up on that 'seamless transfer' referred to above, and instead passed their player base onto FullTilt.

    Dear DoylesRoom Player,

This email is intended solely for US-based players at DoylesRoom.com. Please ignore this communication if you are based in any other country.

In view of the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (“UIGEA”) and the cessation of operations by Neteller and other payment processors, the management of the Doyle Brunson Poker Network (“DBPN”) has reluctantly decided not to permit online real money play by US-based players. We know this will come as a disappointment to you but we have taken the view that the most prudent course of action at this time to ensure the security of player funds is to conduct an orderly withdrawal from the United States market.

Effective immediately, US online poker players will not be permitted to sign up for real money play or deposit funds into existing accounts. Commencing March 1, 2007, all US play on DoylesRoom.com will be blocked and US players will be able to access only the withdrawals page.

You may withdraw your funds at any time or, should you wish to enjoy uninterrupted play <http://r.pm0.net/s/c?4w1.ju2o.2.f1br.y5h> , we are pleased to announce that Full Tilt Poker has agreed to accept direct transfer of your account balance. This will give you the opportunity to earn a signup bonus of up to $600 and use your action point balance on their site (terms and conditions apply, see below). This account transfer option will be simple, immediate, and allow you to take advantage of Full Tilt Poker’s wide range of games and tournaments. The transfer feature is available now.

For more details please click here <http://r.pm0.net/s/c?4w1.ju2o.3.f1br.y5h>

DBPN assures all its players that their funds are safe but in view of the likely demands on our processing staff in the forthcoming weeks, cashouts may take a little longer than usual to process. We ask that players wishing to withdraw their funds be patient.

DoylesRoom.com will continue to serve non-US players and will increase its focus on Canada, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

We share your disappointment with this news and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

    Thank You,

    The Management
    Doyle Brunson Poker Network

Thats a pity. Is FT above the law, they are US based aren't they? Does anyone know if DR are keeping the Tribeca software or are they moving with the rest of the network?

think FT have moved their full operation to dublin. They tell me that they are a private company and have made the decicion to keep US customers....

dont know anything about the law though.

Nobody is keeping the old tribeca software. Would appear they are folding seeing as they are giving their players to Full Tilt.

The entire Tribeca business was sold to Playtech.

I'd say by the sounds of this Doyle's are moving with Tribeca. They've allowed their US players to move their money, AP's etc. to Full Tilt and they'll be concentrating their efforts on attracting Canadian, European and Asian players to the new merged network.

EDIT: although their fcuking Live support is rubbish, they still "have no information on that" (not that they ever have any information about anything)... and it's only a few days away, jopke...

ft wraps up that deal with doyles, then sends out this e-mail... :)
    Dear x,

    You should be outraged.

You should be outraged that the U.S. government is infringing on your personal rights and telling you how to use your hard-earned money. You should be outraged by the fact that a minority of legislators passed the UIGEA, which impacts your ability to play the great game of poker on the Internet. They did this by slipping the language into a completely unrelated port security bill that went to the floor just minutes before Congress took its break for the mid-term elections. The bill passed without any Congressional debate or opportunity for you to object.

Although many legal scholars would argue that online poker should not be affected by the UIGEA, we believe the law's lack of clarity can only harm the game unless an express exemption is granted under the UIGEA. You should be outraged that, in a rush to passage, poker did not receive the objective review it deserves, and did not already get this express exemption while lotteries, horse racing, and fantasy sports were all given free passes. We demand that Congress address this grievous oversight now.
Poker players need to fight back.

Should I be pulling my money out of DR? I was hoping I could keep it in there, with my pending bonus and RB...

Looks that way alright, although this is probably the best thing they could have done, if they went to Dobrosoft as first rumoured, I'd say they had no chance, at least now they have a slight chance as one of only about 3 or 4 sites privately offering RB.

My first cashout arrived safely after about a day or so, so I'd say we're safe enough there, although god knows how long my final one will take with all the withdrawals they're probably processing now (it can't be worse than the Carnival 20 day debacle myself and a few others went through a while back:) )...

Personally, I'm erring on the side of caution and taking my money out, I cleared the bonus this weekend and as soon as I'm paid I'll be clearing my account. There are other options on the new network that are probably safer than DR at the moment,( hmm self fulfilling prophecy much...). I'll send you a PM now in a minute.

hmm, I have nearly 3.5k in transit to Neteller from DR but your story makes me happier

    not enjoying the wait :(:(

I've another 30k left on my bonus, I reckon I'll do it by tommorrow or so how long does that take to arrive?

you guys really that worried not getting you're cash?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 834 ✭✭✭peeko

I really wanted to clear my bonus here, but looks like a better idea to take it out for the time being. I guess I can re-deposit when all the smoke clears, the bonus is indefinite so may be ok.

    Cheers for the advise Ste.

    P_L,

I cleared my bonus on Friday but there was some mix up with some stupid survey I completed for them for 2k points that didn't count so I had to finish that off yesterday, but I'd say clear it if possible, then cashout, (actually take some out now and leave enough in to clear the bonus, what I did) I left about $1.5k in there and won't take it out til I get my bonus paid (hopefully today) then I'll be sending the lot out until the dust settles. But there's better RB deals available now on existing iPoker sites and I have that set up for when they merge, so it's unlikely I'll go back to Doyle's, (assuming they go with the merger).

Although I'd say your money is safe, I just like to err on the side of caution.

2 Options, chip dump to yourself, dodgy enough if you get your account closed days before a move, easier would be to play yourself in a big heads up stt, pay a bit of rake to get your money to an account where you wont be worried/ waiting ages for a cashout.

Does this mean the Tribeca network won't be the home of the more "gambley" type of player? Boo. Where do we go now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

They stay exactly where they were, all the Tribeca players are moving with the sites... :D So a PPP fish is still a PPP fish, just on the new merged network... Now they'll just be all mixed up with the Noble Poker and CD poker fish...
