I got one of these phones as reccomended on this board. I cannot for the live of me set this up on freespeech. I should be able to connect to the phone using my web browser and entering its ip address (192.168.1.102) but i cannot. It seems to be connected to my router?

Any help would be more than appreciated.

Seems it possibly is not connecting to my linksys wireless router properly. Ive tried everything, channging channels, encryption etc. It finds the router and tries to connect. then trys to register and then says no service try another AP?

Thanks for the answer. Im pulling my hair out here. Yes I think it has an early firmware on it. I cannot seem to find any firmware anyware for this phone. And how to i update it if i cannot connect to it? The ip address is showing up in the network settings in the phone and also in my client list on my linksys router.

It keeps saying now when i try to updat, can not connect to the board. my phone seems to be the F1000 so firmware 4.50 is the latest. Just wondering why it will not update. its finding the phone and then crashes at 5% with that error.

Done it, Ill try to access web page management now. Youve been a great help. Thanks.

are you putting it into the right mode on the phone? follow the instructions to setup the phone before starting the update, if you dont setup the phone in advance it says cannot connect to board.

Yes its all updated, trying to configure it now for freespeech but there is a lot more settings than the freespeech website provide answers for.

Mate all done, its registered to freespeech now and i can make and recieve calls. I re set to factory settings and re put in my freespeech details and hey presto.

    You were a great help.

now, phone is making and recieving calls, but from time to time its losing its connection with freespeech. not sure whats causing this, either a setting somewhere is astray or its a router problem. I dont think its a router/network probelm as ive experimented turning off router and the phone as soon as it re connects with router it logs back onto freespeech. its not a signal problem either as the phone is in the same room as the router. Ill try to keep my eye on it this morning before work and try to see when its losing connection

change your registration duration to a lower value (60 maybe) on the sip and and rtp config page, id say your router is closing what it thinks are inactive ports so you need to register more often, this will shorten battery life though.

ok, it was allready set to 60, i lowered to 30. ive also changed my router to B only as the phone doesnt seem to like the G transmissions?

That hasnt helped. Its lost connection after about 35 minutes??

consider port forwarding udp 5060 through to 12000 on the router to the phones ip address.

Mate, thats the same answer i got from freespeech. I need to give the phone a static ip address and port forward. Havent got a clue how to do this.

This is what freespeech told me:

"This is probably because the 'pinhole' in your router has been closed. Some SIP phones have a keepalive packet which keeps the 'pinhole' open. Another method is to give your wi-fi phone a static IP (from your router) and implement port forwarding. Also check if there is a setting on your phone for 'registration timer', try changing this"

They have not got back to me to tell me how to do this.

I done some research last night and succesfully gave my phone a static ip address and set up port forwarding like you suggested. BUT it hasn't cured the problem. Phone still keeps disconnecting after about half an hour.

it seems its a freespeech problem as i put in my details form another voip account i have and it holds connection with no problems for the last 5 or 6 hours. all i changed is the domain, username and password.

linksys wrt54GS wireless router. very common one available at currys/pc world etc.

Upgrade the firmware, that is a good router but earlier versions did have that problem, newer firmware includes a sip connectiuon tracker module, or else consider loading an alternative firmware on it (e.g. http://www.dd-wrt.com/) which would make the router much more powerful.
One last thing to check, on the config make sure that udp timeout is set higher then 3600, as that would be closing the pinholes.
