Does it come out of the box BC ready? And can you use the SIXAXIS on PS2 games?

    Backwards compatible.

Really no SIXAXIS support, thats totally gay. So I'm gonna have to buy a USB adaptor for it and a new controller cos I traded in my PS2. Ah crap...

No, it just doesn't use the tilt funtion of the Sixaxis..
Pad controls as normal................just without rumble of course :(

Backwards compatibility apparently has an excellent success rate since the 1.5 update, cannot say for certain as I only have a few Jap games to try out on my Jap system.......no scaling yet though, so system switches to 480p and obviously the PAL system will default to 576p with Euro releases..

Ah right thats cool then. What about saving? Can it be done on the HDD or will you need a memory card?

EDIT: Just read up about it on the US PS3 site. You create virtual memory cards on the HD. Pretty nifty!

    That's right,
you create separate PS1 and PS2 virtual memory cards on the HDD..
You'll need to use a memory card adaptor though to get the save games from your old cards though if you want to transfer them......never tried one myself though..

I heard that with the PS3 once you put a disc in, that you won't be able to use it on any other PS3, is that true?

No.........never sure where that rumour started..
I think it was internet sites that needed a anti-piracy story to print last year..
Brother of mine has already borrowed my Resistance and Motorstorm with no issues..

Ahh good good. I have a 360 at the moment, and am considering getting a PS3 instead. Especially for the free online. In your opinion are they good?

In a nutshell, it is a great machine............but the games are not quite there yet..
It features a quality build, excellent features and it is without doubt, the best Blu-ray player on the market right now.
Over time the games will appear, but the 360 obviously features a more mature software line-up..........so on games only at the moment, some potential PS3 owners may be a little disappointed. That will change though over time, and if PS titles in general appeal to you, then you may well be happy with straight swap in platform.

That's not to say that there are no good games available right now, and the Euro launch will bring with it some excellent new titles.
Resistance, Motorstorm and VF5 are the equal of anything on the 360 right now and things will obviously improve in much the same way it has for the 360 over the year or so.
