I open raise to $5 in 50c/$1 with AQo in middle position folds around to shortstacked small blind who has $14 who re-raises all in and i have $100 and BB yet to act covers.

Normally this is a fold but with only $9 to call to put him all in should i have a look or is the uncertainty of the BB reason enough to fold here??

You are in MP and raise. The SB pushes and now the action is to the BB?

Obv, Wait for the BB to act before you make your mind up. And if he folds call. if he raises fold, if he calls, maybe call maybe raise

lol Sorry:o , posted this roughly from recollection. Im not sure of the other 2's position the player who covers me was yet to act so he must have limped and the shortstack must have been in the blinds

probably the SB covered and limped, and the BB pushed for 14.
The sb is after you to act.

Definintely at least call. The shortstack could make this move on a large range of hands.
My preference is to put the squeeze play on the BB by putting in a chunky raise (anything from 32-allin) Now doing it with AQ isnt ideal , but it does 2 things.
The BB hasnt shown any strength until now and might fold. (Unlikely he has AK\AA or KK)
If (that is if) he calls you are unlikely to be up against AA or KK so a 50\50 at worst.
Secondly and this for me is the real beauty of the play. If you wake up with a monster later on and you do the same play you're going to get paid off.

So for clarification. I open in middle position for $5 and get 1 caller (who covers me) then the shortstack in the blinds re-raises to $14, I flat called, the villain who covers pushed all in for another $90 or so and i folded, it was an easy fold at that stage.

Just wondering is loosening my range a bad move just because he is shortstacked, obviously calling with 2 suited cards wont get me the odds i need to make it profitable but is AQ ahead enough times here against shortstacks to make it a profitable call.

The addition of 1 caller here i think makes this an easy fold, if he limped it might be a maybe but hes called a 5x raise and has yet to act. An im in a bad spot with a hand that is likely to be dominated by one of them. To be honest i didnt notice that there was 1 caller at the time and so i didnt notice his stats, i should have been paying more attention, i think as long as the villain who covers me has reasonable stats then its a clear fold here.

Villain who covers showed AKo, Shortstack showed 77 i folded AQo Hit Queen on flop, blank turn and shortstack hit trips on river.
