Computing postgrads

    Hi all

I'm a DCU student in my final year and am thinking of applying to do a postgrad in one of the computer science Masters degrees in TCD. However, I was a bit screwed over in my winter exam results and it's looking like I'm going to fail one ( I wont know until the summer). DCU's marking scheme is such that if you fail an exam in final year or get a pass by compensation, you automatically get a pass degree, even if you have been getting 1:1's in every previous year (which I haven't, admittedly). I don't know whether this is the case in TCD, although I suspect not as an ex-gf of mine failed an economics module in 1st year and managed to come out with a 1:1 for her end of year results overall.

Anyway, I digress. Is there any point in my applying to TCD with this in mind or should I just kill myself now :-p. It was suggested I consider applying as a mature student next year but I couldn't find much information on this on the TCD site. If anybody could shed some light on any of what I have said I'd be v. grateful thanks.

I suppose.. It's just so annoying when people who just cram do better than you.... and it will be 48 euro down the can if I dont get in :-)

TCD isn't modularised. Economics Winter exams (officially called Michaelmas Term tests), to cite your case, are only worth 10-15% of the end of year grade.

Generally speaking to get into a postgrad programme in TCD you need a II.1 in your degree, but it depends on competitive entry.
