without the ah this is a pretty easy fold.

    bet less on the flop,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭dvdfan

Thats a horrible flop, i would decide first wheter your willing to get all in if it comes to it. Is he likely to bluff at this pot to put you off a big hand? Any info on any bluffs hes making or what hands hes been showing down.

If your not willing to get all in here then im check/folding to a big bet on the flop and i dont think leading out is good. Personally if hes as bad as you say and likely to bluff this board then im calling the allin. Leading out is fine in this case as your going to take down the pot here and now enough times to make it profitable if he dosent have hearts and your willing to call the check raise all in.

Not really enough info to put him on a hand with that wide of a range, whats hes range for calling re-raises. 2 hearts is the obvious one but 57 would be my guess, maybe even 57 of hearts.

Raise more preflop, say to 32
Don't overbet the flop like this. I normally bet pot here, however if he's a complete gamblor who would call an all-in here with Ah or Kh or any overpair then by all means shove the flop.

Not entirely sure if this is a fold. Against his guy, I'm not sure, depends on how bad he is. If you think he will make this move with the lone Ace of hearts or other hands you beat then call.

this is an easy call, you guys must be on drugs

    i dislike flop overbet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,806 ✭✭✭Lafortezza

If Villain is as bad as you say, then he can be easily doing this with Ah/Kh/Qh and maybe a pair to go with it.
So it boils down to how much you feel like gambling. I'd call against this opponent.

not an easy call by any means, and if villian is as bad as made out then why risk losing a buyin here when you will get him to do the same thing from far better positions.

I'd reluctantly fold, but I'm guessing you called and he turned over Ah 4c. 4d landed on the river and you lost.

Obv, A7 is his hand with the A of hearts.

    Villan has Kh8x .... E5 please.

I'm guessing you called and won pot BTW.

As above, flop bet not good, I thought the PFRR was okay though.

plenty of good lags can find any 2 cards pre flop to play an not be awful post flop
you dont state that his postflop play is bad

If he will call with any 2 pre flop then raise more

He has now bet 200 into a 100 pot where all we beat is a stone cold bluff and we are actually behind hands like 7h 8c and 50 50 with a lot of bluffing hands so i probably find a fold if my head is on straight

He has 7-7 with 7 hearts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 325 ✭✭The Ace Face

    The guy had 7h 10c.......:D

he called 26 p/f with that and on flop of 468hs he went all-in with a st8 draw and 7 high flush draw

    Any views?

he called 16 pre not 26
well his hearts are a bit low to be sure they are live but he is in fact fav against you to win here

all in all t7 is very loose but if he outflops u he will stack u every time
I find with good lags when they re-raise you like this u are never far ahead and often a long way behind

It is a ropey preflop call, but he obviously thought that if he hit has hand he'll get paid off.
With that logic he had quite a piece of the flop, so he moved in and put you to a tough decision.
Simply calling your bet would have been too weak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

This is a pretty easy call. We're ahead of a huge part of his range here. he could have any overpair with no hearts, KQ/AK/AQ/AJ/AT/A8 with a heart. So definite call. If he has a set or a mde flush, well so be it.

Not sure we can say calling 200 bet into a 100 pot that has a made straight and made flush already there with an over pair and no redraw is a pretty easy call

We are either racing or dead here i would suggest folding is always an option here and is never really wrong

I almost folded, had a feeling I was behind or he had loads of outs and the lack of a heart was my main concern.

The turn was a 3 of hearts..river a blank ...he won...I lost..... If the same hand happened again I would probably fold and wait for a better spot than pure gambling on that flop. Hindsight is a mother ****er.

If he turned over his hand would you fold? No. Saying it's pure gambling is ridiculous. You got it in with the best hand and lost a hand that was marginally worse for you than coinflip. That's poker. When you analyse his range, he could have any pair with a heart, any overpair/underpair, with or without a heart or various other bags of crap like a gutshot and heart. If he's gone for an unorthodox play of shoving for twice the pot with the nuts or a made flush, well played but at these levels everyone loves to slowplay their monsters. I dont think this is a fold although folding definitely isn't the worst play in the world.

Also, based on the preflop action, his hand is far more in line with JJ/TT/KQ than it is with T7o.

Your right, I really should listen to your insightful and knowledgeable advice more often. Rather than write you off as a sarcastic, smug, condescending ..................

I imagine you are really profitable due to all the helpful and constructive advice that you give to the people who post on boards.

You know if you use your own inititive you will learn a lot faster. You posted this hand looking for advice riugh. So I come in here and reply that I think you should call quickly. Short and sweet bacause I've explained my reasons for calling in this spot a lot of times before on various poker forums and and frankly I'm a bit browned off doing so. But even still, because I'm a nice guy, I took the time to say that I think you should call.

BUT OBVIOUSLY THIS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU? You see my short post and all you can think is "OMFG idiot and short post how does that teach mwe omfg %&^$*&?&%%!!!" Well this is the part where you should attempt to think outside the box my friend. THINK for yourself for a second. Ready to try this?....

WHY, when playing online pokar, when one player is all in should another player consider calling the all in bet? hmmm.... yeah it's a tough one allright. Maybe because he thinks he is beat by the all in player? hmmm... no, no I don't think that is it. Oh wait! Maybe it's because he thinks he has a better hand then the all in player!! BINGO!!!

Ok now we get to the second part of our thinking adventure. Here we attempt to think of all the hands that we are ahead of. Ready? Are we ahead of sets? NO. Are we ahead of 2 pair? NO. Are we ahead of TT/JJ/QQ/KK? YES. Are we ahead of flush draws? YES? So lets hit the second level omg omg!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT I THINK THAT THE ALL IN PLAYER HAS???

And imagine, all of this from just a one word post. Beautiful, isn't it?

lol here's a more serious post from a guy I respect on a different forum I have frequented for nearly 2 years now.

    On the subject of one-liners:
One more thought on this. I've said it elsewhere and I'll repeat it here...

When you are responding to a post one of the best things you can do is to just say enough to direct the discussion and OP's thinking process in the direction you think it should go...AND NO MORE. If OP asks for more explanation then, by all means, respond, but this game is all about making correct decisions and players only get better when their decision making process does, so help them arrive at correct decisions but don't spoonfeed them the answers.

It took me a while to realize this, but what finally brought it home to me was a response to one of my early HH posts by Fnord, where he gave me one of his Fnordish one-liners, something like, "I like where you got to but not how you got there," then he left me to stew. Bastard.

That was the day my whole approach to this game changed.

it's time to fold after the most disguting flop in history because we don't know where we are unless our opponent reraised and we are happy to get all-in knowing they have the barest Q/K of hearts which will be good if another heart comes.

p.s it depends on whether you like to gamble or not

A lot of the time it is a ego thing. Some times it's a "here read this and think about it" thing. Most of the time it's "ffs I couldn't be arsed writing out a huge reply again and repeating myself thing"

Maybe we should ask questions in one line. e.g. just say What line do I take here? and let the experts explore that concept. Could be an interesting conversation. You know just so the learner can exhibit an ignorance equivilent to the pro's knowledge.
