    Howya lads,
I'm trying to install Gimp and OpenOffice on my Mac but during the installation I get a message stating that i need to have X11 installed on my system. I then visit the apple website and download X11. During the installation of X11 i get a message stating that the installation can't continue because there is a newer version of X11 on my system.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

It's not directly answering your question but about X11 but NeoOffice is a very capable (and in my experience completely stable) alternative based on OpenOffice and doesn't require X11 at all. Might be worth trying?

as far as i know x11 should be on your install disc anyway, try installing form your that.

The downloadable version of X11 only works with Panther, if you've got Tiger you need to install it from the install discs.
