    Spoilers below*

Just watched the departed and thought it was a great film, but the ending was a bit all over the place.

Can anyone explain why Mark Walberg killed Matt Damon and what was in the yellow envelope di caprio gave the "shrink" ?

Im assuming it was evidence and that mark walberg found out and killed Damon but why didnt they show us walberg finding out etc?? Anyone any idea about the ending???

The ending had that "tacked on" feeling to it that usually comes when the preview audiences don't like the original ending.
I guess they felt the idea of the bad guy getting away with it would not sit well with the viewers although it gave a more powerful edge to "Infernal Affairs".
It's not spelt out but one presumes Costigan left the envelope with Madolyn naming Sullivan as the mole and left instructions to pass it on to Dignam if anything happened to him.
Also joe learn to use the spoiler tags please
In fairness if someone sees the movie name and "Ending" in the title of the thread and then decides to read on then they just have themselves to blame

Jese some people... As deepBlue pointed out a topic with "ending" in it and having spoiler at the top of the post would kind of indicate that theres eh...a spoiler about the ending in it no??

And as I said im assuming that was the case about the envelope having instructions to give to walberg, but would it of killed them to put in an extra minute of a scene showing walberg being handed the package?

I actually know quite a few people who have watched this film and everyone whos seen it said they werent 100% sure why the ending ended like it did. Even though we all thought that was the reason. Why didnt they tighten up the ending.Thats all.

No need to go insulting people over nothing. Its quite sad when someone goes to the bother of replying to a topic to throw out an insult and not even bother helping the person. Oh well.
