...if you wernt out there today enjoying the sun :D

jesus, what a day. used a tank and a half of petrol, just milling around howth, malahide, back roads beyond swords, tunnel, city.

saw LOADS of classics out too. a White Mk2 Capri, a black XJS, an Austin Healy, a Mk1 fiesta, a massive 80's roller.

Anyone else take advantage of the nice weather?

Yes me - but only to wash and clean my classics. They are pretty dusty after enduring the worst winter so far for a long time. They all need a bit of tlc before I can start using them to the full. That's what happens when its not possible to take a classic out of the garage for months.

Was out and about for a while in the GTV, didn't see any other classics out though..

    I was too busy today.

But I got my car starting again, cleaned out the washer nozzles (again), and applied Meguiers extra long lasting something or other tyre gel.

I also changed all the locknuts on the Passat as the adaptor had worn down to nothing and also some of the nuts themselves!! €30 for a set of 4 from VW.

    Lots of motorbikes out today.

The 220D/8 needs a new oil pump, waiting for parts...
The 240D/8 is currently being converted to veggie oil...
The W108 280SD 3.0 is waiting in Germany to be picked up...

But, yes, what a lovely day :-)

I was indeed out yesterday, as I will be today. I saw a beautiful Lotus Cortina yesterday, too. ANyone here own it? I have a water bloom on the bonnet that I'm going to tackle today. Actually...right now!

Couldn't get out yesterday more's the pity, but today the DS and I have a nice 160 mile spin. Weather couldn't be better for classic motoring - dry and sunny but still nice and cool which makes for better running and a more comfortable cabin.

Morning DS.Got mine back from Castlebar with a new left rear window after the last one shattered 30 secs after closing the door 2 weeks ago!Frameless window must have been brushing against door even though I didn't notice anything recently....not my month with cars.
Running well and I'm going to blast up the N17 to Bundoran for no particular reason and the home again.Looking forward to it to say the least.

    Morning XMAXBXGSCXDSCully!

This can be caused by one of two things:
    a) The closed height of the window is set too high - it can vibrate against the bolts in the roof, or more likely catch the rear indicator trumpet when being closed. It will happen again unless it's been reset, by the way.

    b) The last inch or so of vertical travel pulls the glass tight against the rubber - if your vertical window runners are alread set at an angle, this can put a lot of strain on the glass and when you slam it's too much.

It's easy enough to fix, all you need is an 11mm socket and a look inside the door to see how it works. Give me a buzz this evening if you want to give it a go.

Did not see one classic on my travels today. I did get a big thumbs up (at about 80mph) from a guy in an '07 Octavia RS on the M4 though!

The only one I spotted was a LHD 79 D VW Beetle at Newhaggard, Lusk early this morning.

Wishbone, you regularly report seeing cars around Lusk and NCD, have you never seen me in the Merc?

I'm just waiting for somebody to spot me :-)

Maxi, I was out on Saturday in the BMW. Spotted a 4 door Minor (Ballymun), Rover P6 (Finglas) & a Volvo P1800 (Airport).

3ps & Wishbone, I live out Lusk way too. I know of a Spitfire, a Stag, a very nice Valencia blue Triumph 2000 and an Alvis all living in the village. There's a nice Dolly Sprint or 1850 living in Donabate too. Spotted it coming the other way when I was driving from Skerries to Lusk one Saturday in my Triumph 1500TC. We both had a shocked look on our faces. Not often you see 2 Dollies on the same road these days.

.............I live out that way too, and I know the yellow Dollie Sprint, the guy uses it all the time. There is also a perfect white one out in Donabate !

I am getting my Coupe back in one hour, had some small paint rectyification done, so I may get out after that and later this week !

I saw a Granada 2.8i Ghia earlier and a few days ago in town I saw the most immaculate W116 Mercedes 350SE on Pembroke road. It was parked so i had a good look, it could have won any show there and then !
