    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone here had a good experience with buying in equipment from the states. Im looking to buy a few items of clothing and a few other bits and bobs. From what I can see buy stuff in the states is a hell of alot cheaper but would like to get personal recommendation.

Just remember 3 little letters - VAT.

    And three other ones, PnP.
Postage and packaging from the States tends to be quite expensive, and you will get stung for VAT, normally about a month after the fact via a fedex bill or whoever shipped the goods for you.
Did you try Barrabes? I usually use Needlesports in the UK.

Barrabes would be my personal favourite.... Great experiences with a few orders to date.

    Hi Guys,

Cheers for the feedback, then can anyone tell me where are good places for reasonably priced brand name equipment in Dublin or elsewhere in Ireland that I can buy online. Everything seems to be a exhorborant price by comparison to US prices.

Try barrabes.com from Spain. Highly recommended. Excellent Customer Service

I dont see why you shouldnt try buying things from the States, especially Ebay as I have bought a ton of gear off the bay and never had a problem. Bought jackets, boots (US sizes are 1 size bigger than EU,ie. Im a UK 9 so US 10 fits fine) gloves, hats, scarves etc.
There is the *possibility* of getting charged VAT on your goods but i've 100+ purchases and never had a VAT issue ever. I could be lucky but I'll still be buying gear off ebay even if I do get a VAT bill as the prices would still be cheaper even with another 21% on top!
Check out www.gearsamples.com and www.gotyourgear.com both Ebay sellers but they have their own webtores too.
