Irish Government Abolishes Broadband in Case its an election issue

Any poor fool who believes that Noel Dempseys broadband site is about them getting a non VSAT service better think again.

Noel is really annoyed with all the line failures that TDs keep annoying him about so Noel has made sure that his site , http://broadband.gov.ie/ , will not be an election issue.

From now on his DSL line checker will fail EVERY SINGLE LINE in Ireland , thats 100% , until AFTER the election.

    Try it yourself here

    http://www.broadband.gov.ie/Phoneline+Checker/

If the stupid piece of crap passes anybody then its a bug . Please Inform minister@dcmnr.ie and info@noeldempsey.ie and
press@fiannafail.ie and that line will be back failing in jig time.

Nothing short of 100% failure 100% of the time will be tolerated by our minister for dialup . Mind you its only last summer he was selling eircom broadband (only ) off that bloody site if you remember this thread

Nothing short of complete failure will suffice ...and after May its someone elses problem and Dempsey will not be blamed for anything any more.

In the meantime eople should get back to important things like hedge trimming in Ballivor and cattle loose in Athboy . Noels yer only man for those issues.

National issues are for shinners and blueshirts.

Got it to fail for me...

    DSL Check results
    Failed!

I fail too, apparently the 6 years of broadband or so I had were actually impossible.

There's nothing better than two parties divided only by their allegiance in a petty civil war more than 85 years ago.

I wonder if the minister responsible actually knows what broadband entails.

God, this country needs some technocrats.
    (What a thing to say...)

Completely agree. How is this not an election issue? Surely they can say that about anything and everything... "We're closing the Port Tunnel, it's not allowed to be an election issue"

How do you know its to stop it being an election issue and not just that they made a change that accidently broke the website?

Does every line failing not make it more of an election issue?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,012 ✭✭✭✭thebman

    I'd hope so :p

I still get the full list of providers if I use the map (my line has always failed).

Failing for every number I try, this is some joke

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,064 ✭✭✭Gurgle

You don't think maybe its down while they update the database for enabled exchanges?

    Or something?

Of course its much more fun to blame politicians.

btw - I caught Noel Dempsey outside my house last night spraying frost on my car.
Its an evil conspiracy to make winter last until after the election!

by every line failing, nobody can check to see how many lines are passing and how many are failing, since they all fail, and this is obviosuly a technical error, so basically the site cannot be used to check on the actual pass-rate

Eircom's line checker is working perfectly well.

FFS. I would bet money that that site was the one being referenced by digiweb who said (after 2 years of hassle free bb) that my line was no longer suitable. Luckily UTV were happy to take my money.

Just checked Noel Dempsey's telephone numbers on the site (freely available from his own website here) and they are failing too.

    Trim Number 046 9431146 - Fail
    Navan Number 046 9076989 - Fail

If he can't broadband we're all screwed.

If that is the case then I can't understand why that site has no one passing, while the eircom site says that number is a pass? (046 9431146)

SpongeBob, last time I checked, uncle Noel hadn't been seen at a clinic in Ballivor for many months, so there's not even any point in asking him about hedge trimming!

Obviously and logically eircom have direct access to their own information.

Wasn't this line checker built by an ISP and given to DCMNR for free? There are no staff members in DCMNR looking after the broadband website anymore. They all left.

He's not. 4 have left in the past 12 months. If he wants replacements the new hires have to move to Cavan.
