in the poker guide sticky above there is a list of books to read for improving your game. what would people recommend for someone who is a very average poker player who knows little about tactics etc but wants to improve their game?

just get Harrington 1 & 2, I've heard the third book is good also. Its all you need to get going.

    For cash games or tourneys?

Harringtons are usually the 1st to be recommended for Tourny play, Phil Gordens Little green book is another thats recommended alot but i havent read it.

    For cash games.
No limit holdem theory and practise by ed miller & david skalansky is good, im reading it at the moment, its heavy into the maths end of things at least in the early stages of the book.
