    Just reading up on this Scheme. It says that a 40% improvement over current building regs needs to be achieved to qualify. When deciding on the spec and comparing it with the building reg. standard, can a comparison be made in terms of energy rating? Or is it a case of having to compare on the basis of;
    u value of floor/roof/walls/windows & doors?

    Up until recently the SEI would accept a 40% improvement on either the old HER calculation method or they would also accept a 40% improvement on the DEAP calculation. The HER is WAY easier to comply with - so use it.

    The application page for HOT scheme also set mandatory minimum stards for things such as air tightness - but are always ignored, I'm told that when the pressure tested a sample set of houses only 1 met the permeability standard! - but all of them got the 8000 anyway.

    Its for developers only, i.e. if you are building 10 houses or more that exceed the spec by 40%
