written tonight during work, hope you enjoy. Comments most appreciated

    A Winters Walk

    I

I met you ‘neath the looming tree
that grew in the centre of everything.
    A chill and crisp morning;
the winter chill clinging too our bones.
Your red cheeks rosy against your pale face,
    Your hair covered by the woolly cap;
such beauty I’ll ne’er see again.
    The moment captured and framed,
hung in the halls of my memory.
Your smile outshines the winter’s dawning sun.
You shiver, I put my arms around you
and pull you close to me-
Your head resting against my chest.
A freeze frame that is forever.

    II

    The day moves on,
yet for us it seems eternal.
We walk down the country laneway-
side by side, hand in hand
    The laneway winding and bumpy
    yet we walk with ease.
At the end stands my house,
looming over the fields yet one with the horizon.
Somewhere echoes the sound of sheep,
quaint and peaceful against the winter’s chill.
My scarf around your neck, my arm around your waist.
Never felt as perfect as now.
    The front door opens easily
and we lie together in each other’s arm.

Hey, really like the first two lines...
'Hung in the halls of my memory' is also fabulous :)

'My scarf around your neck, my arm around your waist.
Never felt as perfect as now' moved me.

Think the ending could be stronger. Or maybe just end it on that?

    Thanks for the comment.

You're right about the last 2 lines. Only reason I wanted to put that in was the fact that it would make it the same amount of lines as the first stanza (i guess ya can call it..) But you make a valid point; I'll change that now.

    Edit:

Okay, so I can't edit it- so can a mod please take away the lines
    The front door opens easily
and we lie together in each other’s arm.
    please, thank you :)
