Its just Fox News trying to get a peice of the 'comedy news' pie that The Daily Show has dominated. Problem is that The Daily Show is funny and there is actually a lot of truth in there mock reports. Also i can see the right wing bias creeping in to the Fox show. I know the Daily Show like to show up Bush and his party a lot but its still more Fair and Balanced than Fox.

ugh... that was a painful 2 minutes. The in-studio laughter sounded like it was three guys with a mic.

lots of people saying there that the south park guys are example of being right-wing and funny, but I don't those guys are that rightwin are they ,they take the p out of all sides, and in a vry clever way most likely libertarian. Is that just more rightwing youttube posters not recognising the winger' bashing humour and only seeing he hippy bashing

Yeah, I think they've described themselves as libertarian before - they certainly go for the right as much as the left, if not more IMO.

As for The Half Hour News Hour, Robert Mackay has a pretty good analysis of its failings here, pointing out that it completely misses the qualities of The Daily Show and the reasons for its success and is instead a right-wing imitation on a completely different (and less funny) news spoof programme.

Good god that was awful. The audience reactions were interesting though. Sounds like there was a general kind of laughter to keep the floor manager happy, then a handful that were really enthusiastic because they were delighted to hear a Democrat get a "bashing". Hardcore Fox News viewers perhaps?
