I presently have a sky minidish with quad lnb, i view FTA/FTV channels only on four digiboxes..
I am going to get a HD receiver, either the humax or wait for technomate to come out with one. i mostly watch sport/nature programs. i will therefore want to watch more than just BBC HD, so will need a system to look at some other satellites. When i got my sky dish installed, it took him a few times to get it right because of trees, it seems to be pointing in a gap between some trees.(secluded wooded area in Co. Clare)
    i have a few questions:

1.Would it be enough to get a 80cm dish with multi lnbs or should i get a motorised system?
    2. Can these have multiple outputs like the quad lnb or are they single outputs?
    3. can i assume the gap in the trees is going to limit my reception and even a mullti-lnb might not work properly when pointed at the same point where my sky dish is?
    4. any co.clare recommended installers?

    1. It depends on what channels you're after. A multi-LNB system will limit you to the likes of Astra2/Ebird, Astra 1, Hotbird and maybe 16E if LNB's are small enough to make room. Of course there is the Toroidal dish which allows for more LNB's and possible positions, though I've never seen one in the flesh, let alone configure one!

    2. You could connect quad's to a multi-LNB setup provided you've the room, and the LNB arm can sustain the extra weight. You'll need DiSEqC switch(es) too so your receiver can flick between them.

    3. I'd imagine the gap in the trees is going to seriously limit what you'll be able to pick up reliably. Is there nowhere else on your property you could place a dish that would allow it more view of the skies?

thanks, the sky dish is on the chimney and all that side of the house is facing up to a wooded area. looks like i need to get some local expert advice. (Q.4)

Im thinking about getting sky and getting rid of chorus, just the 2 mix plus the bonus mix irish channels. If I sign up for this through the sky website do you have to get it connected to your phoneline? if you do can you disconnect it as soon as it is installed ?

You have to pay about 38 euro extra to avoid phone line, which can otherwise be disconnected in a year.

The "bonus" pack is misleading as those have been in the variety mix. Over 90% of people get the Variety.
    Knowledge is next best pack.

News, Music, Kids, Lifestyle are worthless. Plenty of free news, kids and music channels and the "lifestyle" stuff is mostly old repeats from other channels.
