I remember some radio ads for a website that was advertising finance jobs that linked employers and prospective employees directly and did without the agencies.
Does anyone know what the name of it was?

    Thanks

    Brian

Looks good. No remuneration on most of them though.

I recently found out how much agencies charge and I was shocked, I work in the accounts department of a small company and have seen the charges for placement of candidates. Its usually around 4 grand or more, which is unbelievable. I think one of the things that helped me get my job was that I didn't go through an agency, I just applied directly to an ad by the company thus saving them quite a bit.

Most of them if not all charge by percentage. Usually 10 to 15% of the annual salary of the candidate. For premium hard to fill jobs, the percentage can be as high as 25 to 30%. So, thats why agencies will push for higher salary as it'll mean higher commission for them.

Recruiter working with recruitment agencies are also paid on commission basis (based on my experience).

    Thanks Karangka.

I posted my cv on Monster a while ago hoping companies looked there but while I got dozens of replies they were all from agencies so wanted to look at this but just couldn't remember the site.

Odd thing about the replies I got from my monster post was that someone would say they had "a range" or "a number" of roles they thought I would be interested in. I would check their website and see no jobs even remotely close to what I would be suitable for. Mind boggles.

    Thanks again.
