Smyths (Jervis St.) were quoting the 23rd of February while almost all online resources are saying tomorrow (GAME and Wiki.

I'll get it for sure, but if HMV/GAME are charging too much i'll wait for Smyths and get my 10% discount next weekend.

All in all, i'm checking all shops tomorrow... fingers crossed, i need to break in my new telly with something big, fast and stupid.

    Gona get it too.
Looks like a good laugh. At this stage Im just mad for another game for the Wii and excite looks pretty good.
Asked a mate in gamestop about it yesterday and he told me that they have it in stock now but can't sell til friday.

Think I'll pick this up with Warioware tomorrow. The Wii hasn't been played in a while (Under defeat on the DC is taking over atm). I'm off the drink for the weekend since I'm sick of it so will save a bit of money.

Good review on Eurogamer - 8/10.

all the reviews I've read for it said it's pretty playable but that it gets old very quickly, one phrase that stuck out was 'more of a tech demo than a fully completel game'.. or something to that effect

if it had a multiplayer mode I think I'd def. buy it, but atm i think I'll just wait and see

I wouldn't bother with Warioware to be honest. I'd recommend Rayman or Monkey ball first. Warioware is just far too short and far too easy. Its nowhere near as compelling as the DS version.

Surprised Excite Truck got such a positive review from Eurogamer. Might consider it now, but probably not until I catch up with at least some of the mountain of games I have to play. (I haven't even put Okami into the PS2 yet).

I usually get an awful lot of multiplayer usage out of my Wii and Gamecube before it so Warioware is a good buy for me. Just checked the bank balanced and I'm broke so this will have to wait til next Thursaday :(

I love a good arcade racer so Excitetruck would be right up my street. Pity about no MP modes though.

Glad I read this. I automatically assumed that Excite Truck would be multiplayer. Won't be gettin it now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,473 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

i thought there was split-screen MP?

Agree on Warioware, not really worth getting IMO.

Pretty much the exact same as RE*AC*TOR (hi5 twin!). Might pick it up when I have more time. I bought Okami and it hasn't even been unwrapped yet so I'm getting stuck into that this weekend.

Eurogamers review seemed promising. Might pick it up next weekend (pay day)

You won't stop playing that for a long long time. Oh and Clover Studios are back.

    /offtopic

Picking it up later on, it better be as good as the videos make it look.

Sorry, there is 2 player split screen. Pity about no 4 player though.

ya whats everyone going on about no multiplayer its 2 player
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excite_Truck

    anyone buy it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,561 ✭✭✭Rhyme

Bought it today and im really enjoying it. The biggest challenge has to be not going crazy with the steering, easy turns win the race.

    It's Burnout with hills.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,952 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

It's complete and utter hick thrash, but really fun complete and utter hick thrash. Can't wait to give this a go in multiplayer. Controls take a little getting used to.

I got it today and I'm really enjoying it. It feels like a proper Arcade game and not a standard home console game

I vote yes and I predict the world will say yes

The graphics are pretty nice too. Sharp and colourful and of course fast. Very good fun to play... But I hate the way you get points for crashing, as I drive really well and finish first but still end up losing as my 10 year old nephew has a series of spectacular crashes... it seems to reward bad driving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,969 ✭✭✭christophicus

MAybe you just need to be skillfull and just graze things with the side of your car to get points, while still going fast.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,952 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

The game really isn't about racing since when you crash all the cars spawn close to you. It's more about doing stupid stunts in the 3 laps. You only get 1 point for crashing but you can rack up a whole lot more in the same time with stunts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,623 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Yep.... tree runs, truck smashes, jump combos, rings (plus finishing first!) will net you alot of points. If you just do a straight race, you might win, but you won't have nearly enough points to move on.

Excite truck is the business. A really fast racer, excellent controls. Crazy mad jumps and tumbles. I really like how you get much better and can recover from what looks to be a crash with a little turbo and skimming through a few trees.

Anyone on the fence about this needs to get their hands on it for an hour or two before they decide.

I am glad i got it (8.5 out of ten from me). Would have gotten 9.5 if there were more multiplayer options...

€50 in symths on the fonthill, €45 with the loyalty card.

    U Must Get EXCITEd!!

I think the game rewards for jumps, tree runs and things like that rather than safe on the ground driving. You only get 1 star for crashes usually, it is the Air and drift that will get you tons of stars. and tree runs..

I find the crazier I drive, all over the course, getting turbo jumps even on the side of the road, the more points I have at the end of the race. Even if I do have much more crashes.

I find myself just scrapping through on time on most races, maybe with a few seconds to spare.

Oooh... not a bad price. Smyths on Jervis Street had it at €60 and €53 with the card. So I picked it up in Gamestop for €50... met LadyLotts at the same time too.
