Hey, planning on going on a J1 visa this summer to Colorado and I need to get "2x Visa Size - Not Passport Sized Photos"

    These are 2inch X 2inch.
Does anyone one anywhere in Dublin City or near UCD that might do this?

    Thanks very much,
    Patrick.

Here is the actual details about the photo from the US Department of State.

I believe there is chemist across from the American Embassy in ballsbridge which seems to specialise in doing these sort of photos..

Weird, the URL for that link mentions Australia not US, but the pdf is definitely to do with US, strange...

I got mine in that chemist, don't remember the name of it. They are well used to it though. :)

Is that the one next to the Spar and all the pubs?

    Cheers.

I recently applied for my new bio-metric passport (my old one having expired) and got my photos sent back to me on the grounds they were not good enough and I got new ones done in black and white with a closer up view of my face it they worked fine.

The American passport photos are very strict as my sister had to get them done two years ago, but that was in Killarney so of no use to you unless your down here soon or someit.

Yup. I went there the first time I got a J1.
Asked in my local chemist for visa size photos, turned up at the embassy and was sent back out again to that chemist for the right size. I wasn't the only one.

My current passport doesn't expire for 4 years. I'm planning on going to the US this summer. Do I need a new bio-metric one to get in?

Sorry for going off topic, but the above quoted post just put the question in my head. Thanks.

You can continue to use your old passport until it expires. It just has to be machine readable, most of them are these days. Like the one below.
