    how big is your company.

we basically try and make the games as accessible and playable as possible. We're not there to make money from it or anything and we have to cater to people who have never played or have played alot but are rubbish. :p we run 5 euro rebuys and 10 euro freezeouts. if you want numbers and just want is as a social thing, keep it cheap, after a while, the players who are willing to put more money into will surface and you can raise the stakes for stt's between those players. ask the company for some funding, afterall its an internal social activity and should be good for morale etc etc, buy a table, a chip set and some goods cards. Drinkstuff.com will deliver in 3 days and are very useful. stick up a poster or two, mainly in the mens bathroom over the hand dryers (cos everyone SHOULD use the hand dryer coming out of the bathroom, so give them something to read!). all you need is about 6 players for a game. be aware of time. we have to be out of the college at 9ish so we time table our tourneys to finish by 8.30 to allow clean up.

email ppp, full tilt (who are now dublin based i think), poker stars, etc etc and ask for free stuff! if you sell it right they'll send u something. Poker stars sent us felt, chips and cards , that'd sort ya out fully. full tilt sent ushats and tshirts and fleeces. ppp gave us 8 tshirts at our first game... we havent heard from them since. i'm sure if you ask nicely maybe greenjokerpoker.com might do something for you.

how often: originally weekly, but there is more demand for bi-weekly games. and recently due to college assignments its more monthly.

where hosted: canteen, just use the tables and chairs that are there. easy!

problems: if you book them, they will play! :p

    Thanks for responding.

The company is huge, more than 1000 in the dublin office. I sent an email around the office this morning and have had over 100 replies so far. Im pretty sure we can hit the company for some money as well as asking Stars, FT and PPP. I was thinking of appraoching it from the point of view of practically offering them more than 100 new players and see how the help us out.

We would use the canteen for the majority of events but i would also like to have a bigger more formal event maybe once every three to six months say with 100-150 buyin, obviously most events would be say 10 rebuy or 25 Freezeout every month. I was thinking of hiring some student dealers for the first few events to make sure things run smoothly from a rules point of view. Did you have much trouble setting up your first event, how smoothly did it run??

    Again thanks

Find out who in your office actually knows what they are about rather than the masses who might just be interested and form a committee to sort out rules, formats, events etc.

To be honest there would nt be too many players of the calibre of your good selves :D . That is why i am looking for some advice regarding the initial setup. I will obviously setup up a committee to organise and run the events. i think it willbe a good idea to hire some students dealers who know what they are doing to deal at least the first few events until we ourselves know what we are about. I am just looking for some advice for now. I am pretty confident that we will receive funding from the company but that in itself will not make things run smoothly to begin with. Thanks for any advice guys!!

has to be vodafone in sandyford??! yes no maybe!?

our first event was great. we put in alot of downtime though and had posters up for a good while in 3 colleges, we took over the canteen, think we had 138 runners on 14 tables. It was self deal, 5 euro rebuy tourny ended up with a prize pool in excess of €1000.

I think its very important to decide WHY you are running it. My assumption would be that it is mainly a social thing in a work environment so i'd suggest keeping it cheap to get as many players as possible, maybe make the first one 5 rebuy with a view to getting feedback after about upping the stakes. The first one will be the biggest one. I'd suggest making it rebuy so that people who have no clue what they are doing can gamble it up, get knocked out and still be able to participate.

What time of day/time frame etc? For the first one i'm sure if you ask nicely you can borrow the DIT Aungier St poker equipment. its pretty good stuff and i think we have 4 or 5 tables felts from PS.

if you give me enough notice i'm sure i can get a few boardie students (aodea, shoutman, fiddlesticks, etc) who would play and deal, maybe for a free buy-in/rebuy/top-up.

cheap and cheerful is your market!

I have no problems helping out too especially if it's Vodafone in Sandyford as I used to work there for a year, might bump into some people I know.

I would aim for the first event, to run from say 6 or seven in the evening, and i would greatly aprreciate any help you can give
