Hi all, flyin to Bratislava and back from Gdansk in April (16 day trip) and was wondering if it would be worth getting an interrail ticket or just buying tickets as we need them. i imagine its fairly cheap over there, havent got a route sorted yet or even decided what we want to see.
we want to keep out of cities and see as much countryside as possible though.
I hear theres some beautifil places in Slovakia....
Has anyone seen much of this part of Europe?
Anyone got any recommendations as to what to see where to stay?
    Hostels all the way anyway.
Is it likely to be very cold there in April?
I have the lonely planet for eastern europe but havent gotten into it yet.
Wanted to get some of your opinions/experiences also.
If we do decide to hit a city and go mad what would ye recommend?
My gf has been to Krakow and Warsaw already so we wont be goin there.
    Thanks everyone.

    Poland:

I'd recommend Bieszczady Mountains and Solina Lake (essence of polish countryside)...
    Towns? Wroclaw and Gdansk.
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Poland is supposed to be realitively expensive but I've never been there. I can tell you that Slovakia is extremely cheap. I went over to visist a friend who moved over with his girlfriend for a few months. I was in Kosice and some other smaller town.

We went out in this place one night and went playing pool (rented) I was drinking whiskey with redbull, they where drinking beer, we got a pizza and burgers in there (it was class got the ol hunger on us then we find they can make us anything we want) whole lot came to €15!!

It's kindof strange though allot of those big communists tower blocks and the locals don't have money to be spending on going out where we where but the ones you do meet are really sound.

The weather is allot better than here, they get very good summers. Expect heat. The countryside is lovely and mostly untouched, we didn't go out in Kosice but it's a big enough place with Europe largest catherdal only has one Mcdonalds from what I could see.

They have a state of the art ice hockey stadium there as well and you can get front row tickets for under a tenner. Slovakia is great they treat tourist like kings and your money just keeps going and going.
