    My beloved would like a string of pearls for her birthday.

    Can anyone suggest a good jeweller for pearls and what to look out for.

    I got the missus a string of antique pearls a few years back and she loved them, there is a huge mark-up on jewellary so buying second hand really takes the sting out of it, but you would need a trained eye to spot the differance with a well presented piece.

    I purchased from "Gem Times" on the Main street in Mullingar 044 9340065 the owners name is Mick Walsh.

    Check out http://www.johnweldonauctioneers.com/new/main.php - I have been at some of their auctions and there are always loads of strings of pearls for auction, plus there's usually not that much bidding on them. Everyone is there for the diamonds! Great chance for a bargain....

    I got my Ma some cultured pearl jewellery for her 30th anniversary.
    I got them from this crowd.
