I'm on a round world trip at moment, will be heading to Fiji soon
Has anyone any suggestions on where to stay in Nadi?
Looking for budget to mid range accommodation?

    Cheers.

Nadi is full of hotels and hostels because it is a stoping off point before or after people go to the islands and other resorts, many are of questionable quality.
The airport has many accomadadtion desks and each is trying to under cut the other on prices so that is a good place to start.

I hope you are not planning on staying any more than a night in Nadi, it's a dump and there is nothing to do there.

first of all get the hell out of nadi as soon as you can, go to the islands off the west coast, the yasawas and the mamanucas, absolutely beautiful, i had to stay in nadi one night and it was horrible, dirty city and full of pestering locals actively pursuing you down the street trying to get you into their shops, i stayed in the nadi bay beach resort and it was very nice, its a bit outside the main town

    Thanks everyone,
Yeah only planning to stay one night in Nadi
Just wondering if the yasawas and the mamanucas if these islands are where all the backpackers head ?

    Cheers

I went to Fiji last year and it was amazing! Rather than follow the backpackers to the islands (v. expensive too), we stayed mostly on the main island and had some amazing experiences. I would recommend Olavau too (off the east coast, the old capital) - and from there you can get a boat to Calaqai (pronounced Thang-a-lie)- that was a TINY tropical island inhabited by an extended family of 16 fijians. Beautiful.

stayed Here Horizon hostel. They picked us up from airport so saved taxi fare there

They organised tours etc. Could have stayed on the island and gone into the moutains but decided to go on an island tour. Bit touristy but enjoyable

Feck all to do in Nadi good for a base but thats all we just used it as a stopover for Aussie
