Is anyone familiar with the ACFE aka the Association of Certified Fraud Experts? I was considering taking a job as a forensic accountant and thought that it would be useful to sit these exams. Apparantley it's an American/Canadian institute and you do the exams via CD ROM.

Does anyone know anything about this institute or the standard of the qulaification?

Can't say I've ever heard of it. Any forensic accountants over here are generally either ACA/ACCA.

Never heard of forensic accounting before. Seems very interesting. Anywhere I could get some info on forensic accounting in this country? Does it pay well compared to standard accounting?

Nowhere to really read up on it tbh. I've just heard of people working as them in the Big 4 and a few of the Top 20.

We had a guest lecturer the other day and he mentioned forensic accounting. From what I could gather they worked using CAAT's and were called in to help assist audits where there was a greater Inherent/Control risk. Could be wrong though, definitely very interesting though!

As mentioned before I'd say it's just be an add on to Aca/Acca etc

Forensic accountants investigate fraud, give evidence in court and are used in matrimonial disputes to detemine earnings. I guess the CAB in the Gardai would be forensic accountants.

    Anywho, the website www.acfe.com

I can't honestly see you gaining much from doing it.
