I just received word that the Comp Sci evening course degree programme has stopped taking entrants for this forthcoming year.
Anyone know if there's any truth in this? If it is it's a total shame.

Any word as to the reason for this? I thought that there was again quite a large take-up normally for this course.

Interesting since Computer Science are 'over-funded'...

Looking at exec minutes, the only thing I can find is that the executive officer fo the evening courses resigned. no mention of further issues relating to them, as far as I can see, unless its in the minutes of the meeting I missed due to illness (not up online yet) - OSD any idea if anything has happened with the evening business course?

Well, TR036 isn't on cao.ie among this year's courses (although points are listed for it for last year).

Would that mean the decision was made quite a while ago? The actual form for applications isn't available anymore, so it's not clear whether this was offered to this year's applicants at any stage.

The course has been withdrawn. The take up in the last few years has been very very low.

Ok, found what seems to have happened. at the start of 2006 there was a discussion document brought on this to the CS+S school about merging it with another evening course, or withdrawing it. The decision was taken to merge it, which unfortunately college blocked. around July 2006, the decision was then made to withdraw it as a result, in 2007.

Has there been any reason given for the courses not being allowed to be merged?
