i've read a couple of different articles on fatalities/serious injuries in sport and the most dangerous seem to be motorsports, horse riding, fishing(!) etc but has anyone come across a simple table showing the average number of deaths/serious injury per year in ireland from sport?

    here's one for OZ

    P.13 for uk

    thanks

Nope. But if it exists, the central statistics office would have it. I'm not sure if that's what they call it, but go through the front of the phone book and look at the government numbers. You should recognise the name when you see it. Unless they've buried in another department. I haven't tried for a few years.

Also, what the funk are they fishing for in austrailia that there are so many fatalaties?

Well, there's lots of alligators in the streams.

Also, the wildlife can be dangerous in other ways, even if you pad them up
    for some boxing :)

    Stingrays :o

    Okay that was insensitive :(

anyway, eh, stats.... Can't say I've seen such a table for Ireland, nope. If there's a national sporting authority then they'd probably be more likely to have the stats than the CSO. That'd be my guess anyway!

that Kangaroo keeps going for the clinch, we could learn a thing or two from nature. I wonder how he would do against a natural grappler (ie a bear), hmmmmmm

    Hope that helps.

Oh and on the kangroo vs bear, well it depends on how hungry the bear is. Just watch Grizzly Man!
