I'm seeing Hot Fuzz advertised on TV right now as being released on Valentine's Day but a browse of my local cinema website says Friday. Is it only released in the UK today, and here on Friday? Anyone confirm this?

What a gip (in the gippiest sense of the word)!!

As i was thinking of bringing the other half to see this tonight.. ahhhhh... Valentine's Day. On a day for romance, who needs shite like 'The Notebook' and the 20th Anniversary re-release of 'Dirty Dancing' when you've got some Pegg-Frost-Wright action!

Yeah, myself and the missus were planning on going to see it tonight but after we checked it looked like it was only coming out on Friday. Boo.

Bit of an opportunity missed, actually.

It's not a typical Valentine's Day movie so it's no real surprise they didn't release here early...

Why don't you see "Music & Lyrics" instead? I'm sure it's just as good ;)

Eurrghh.. i know well if i do go to the cinema tonight, the other half will wanna go see the re-release of 'Dirty Dancing'. And i'll grudgingly sit through it just to hear the "nobody puts Baby in the corner" line just to shout "You tell them, Swayze. You wuz the bomb in Road House and Point Break!"

Not spending €8.50 each to go see a film which costs half that on DVD!

    Friday night it is so.

Yeah, actually on the website I see that they are showing it tonight if you click on Film & Schedule.

Advanced screenings tonight and tomorrow in most cinemas...

Went down to Cineworld and got two tickets for the 21:30 showing an hour and a half ago. The 20:30 one was Limited (with no two seats beside each other) and the 21:30 was getting full at that stage.

But if anyone is being dragged to Dirty Dancing by your other half and she didn't book tickets in advance, you'll be happy to find out that it's all sold out.

Saw this tonight - very funny flick, a couple of boring bits, but hilarious all the same....

What a let down. 2/10 from me. Great build up and then they went and ruined it with utter nonsense. Not nonsense of the good kind either, nonsense of the 'We suddenly ran out of money so handed over the production to troma' sort of nonsense in both storyline and visual direction. Ugh. So disappointed.

I'd say it was the opposite. Just not very interesting (or funny really) at all until they turned it into an action film. Still not very good though and not a patch on Shaun of the Dead.

Not nearly as good as Shaun of the Dead but funny none the less. The end was a bit to drawn out for my liking they could have left out ten minutes or so.

beat the pants off shaun of the dead, nice build up, great jokes, loads of great performances, especially dalton, some wonderful references to other movies, Omen, Matrix, wicker man, point break etc. first time inn years i laughed out loud in the cinema and the whole cinema was laughing along, even the jokes you could see coming were funny, and thats hard to pull off. best british comedy in years,

Most of you are mad. I though it was absolutely, undisputably, fantastically brilliant. The build up in the first hour was great and the action movie of the second was even better. Some of yea are too hard to please.

Yep, loved it when I saw it.

Was thinking that it was ok most of the way through the film but
when he kicked the granny (with the shotgun) in the head I almost coughed up a lung

Great build up, some wonderful moments in it - and then they just went absolutely, needlessly, pointlessly bat-**** crazy. Which, while it had its moments like Myth mentioned, still managed to ruin an otherwise perfectly enjoyable movie on me.

    Exactly how I felt.

Got to see this last night. For the first half-hour or so I must admit was disapointed but when it built up it was superb. The action movie last half hour was solid gold I thought, and the big 'twist' was delightfully absurd. Id say its as good as Shaun, if not as immediatedly brilliant. And you can't beat the 'subtle' homo-erotic subtext for satire of the highest order.
