    Hi Guys
OK i am looking for C&C on the attached photos but my question on these same is this.

Ok i have solved my own problem, I had a force RGB setting applied when it was saving, there by screwing up the shot.

Any C&C though would be great, please tell me what i need to change improve etc...
    Thanks

i can see folds in the background material and it's not black enough and i think the reflections are too sharp, they take too much attention away from the product.

the fonts on the bottom two don't look like they've been done by a graphic designer which i presume was the intent to make them look like adverts?

finally, all phone adverts generally have something on the screen, useally put in afterwards though

agreed on the backgrounds and fonts. more work needed here.
Phone was grab by chance but had no power due to the fact i never use this thing. (need to get rid) i will be doing this again with a differtn angle of attack and screen switched on.
i think the reflection works for the car but not the other two shots. i need to look how to dull this down or fade away.

Thanks for the comments. very useful

    Darren

I agree and use a matt base rather than glossy one and that should help reduce a lot of the relflection.

    Good work though!! :D

if you're angling towards doing product shots professionally, i've been told that it's hideously, hideously boring.

Ok no problem but why? is the the photos or the set up? colours? style? impact?

i have no problem with the above comment but if you could expand it would help.

    thanks

I think he prolly means that doing it as a job is hideously boring, as opposed to your shots being hideously boring... just have to consider if you'd rather do a hideously boring photography based job or a hideously boring IT/admin/'insert occupation here' one ;)

If you wanted to dull down the reflections, just create a levels/curves/darkening layer of your choice and mask it so only the reflection is affected. I think if you're going for something that pops, you need to up the contrast some more, get some nice highlights in there, make the colours zing. The phone one looks quite good nice and smooth as it is but with the background brought to complete blackness, the lights on the keypad showing might work well too, although the shadow being cut off bothers me a little. The car shot is very pretty indeed!

well, my comment is informed by knowing a guy who used to work for a studio doing this sort of work. the bread and butter stuff is pretty much that - grocery product shots, catalogues for woodies, etc - photographing 18 different types of light fittings is not incredibly rewarding.

got my wires crossed on the boring quote there? :-)

TBH photography as a living would be great for me. The big question is am i good enough? Having look at some sites i think i may have a shot. Time will tell i gues

I actually like the reflections, in a minority here...Brookie, what have you used for the background/base?

    @ cambo_queno
    PVC gloss black base,
    Black Velvet cloth on background

    thanks for the comment

the reflections are fine, except for the phone - don't have a reflection unless you can see all of it.

Where do you get something like this? I was looking for something similar, and probably the same in white.
    Thanks

Really nice pictures Brook. #1 is by far the best, #2 Is good but as stated
it's a pity about the phone's empty screen. Also in #2 it looks to me that
the angle is off, it doesn't look the best. Photo 3 is really nice but again as
said the text is a little bland and I agree that the reflection is too strong.

Some really nice shots though, if I say that model car pix in an online store
it would make me consider buying it :)
