    Folks,

Im having a hard time finding reasonable priced accommadation in New York during June. Planning to stay a week. Not keen on shared dormantarys and the like. Just want a single room and I'm not fussy on facilities as I will be out most of the time. Has anyone any ideas / recommendations?

Go to ebookers to see what prices they're offereing - then to to Trip Advisor for a review of the hotel - then try their website directly in case they're got a better offer.

"Reasonable" and New York don't always go hand in hand - it depends what your budget is. You could save money by staying further out of town but if you're only there for a short period the time wasted travelling around could outway the monetary saving.

I dunno, I suppose I would like to hope that 500 eur would be possible. I want to be able to get flights and accommadation for a grand. As I have said the accommadation doesnt have to be great.

Go to tripadvisor.com and look up my fav hotel - chelsea lodge. chelsealodge.com. There are multiple reviews about it (including mine) on there and it is only 110 dollars per night.

The only issue is it is seriously popular and books up quickly.

i was in new york before christmas and stayed in the radio city apartments which were recommended by friend. they are really central on 49th street ( i think) and only 3 mins walk from times square. its not a luxury hotel or anything but the rooms were clean and relatively modern. bathroom was nice too. check out their website www.radiocityapartments.com.
Even if they say the room is not available for the nights you want, email them with your dates and they will usually accommodate you.

Im resurrecting this thread because I couldnt be arsed creating a new one and its still about New York :D

I am kind of trying to put together a list of things to do in New York, and came up with the following websites / places that sounded interesting:

    http://www.veroslist.com/index.htm
    http://www.nycvisit.com/home/
    http://www.nywatertaxi.com/nywt.aspx?s=sig&c=sunset
    http://www.bbkingblues.com/schedule/index.shtml
    http://rosieogradys.com/

I've already been up the Empire State Building and didnt find it that exciting. Now I want to see more of New York itself. What else should I go and see?
NB: Want to experience some good nitelife as well- Pubs, clubs etc

BTW: I'm going at the end of May - Cost c 900eur flights (Aer Lingus) and accommadation for 5 nites

    1. Get the metro over the Brooklin Bridge and walk back to Manhattan.

    2. Little Itialy/Chinatown for food.

    3. Rosie O'Grady is 'ok'. The food was excellent but a little pricey in a city where you can get food a lot cheaper.

    4. Google for comedy clubs.

    5. Go see The Colour Purple on Broadway and watch grown men cry !
