hi i was wondering if you can claim any money back on stamp duty which i think is areal big ripoff to move back to were we come from me and the wife found a house expencive enough but ideal for us we ended up shelling out 36000 for the so called goverment tax were an average couple with one child we both work but dont earn huge amounts of money but anything that we could claim back would really come in useful at the mo cos think we got into a bit of debt

Not a chance, but then in years to come, if you sell up your home and retire to a cheap spanish villa will you be clamouring to give the revenue some of your tax free profits on the gain of value of your residence?
