Average age at off campus accommodation

I'm going to be starting a postgraduate program at DCU in September. I don't want to live on campus, but I would like to live somewhere convenient. I was looking at some of the student housing nearby, and was wondering what the average age is of people who live there. I'm going to be 26 when I move in and turn 27 while I'm living there. Are there other postgrads there? Or is it pretty much all undergrads?

You do realise there is Postgraduate accommodation on campus? Or are you ruling that out too?

Well over here in Shanowen theres a decent mix of years however I don't know of many postgrads over here. :o

Are the rules the same as for the undergrads? From what was posted about them, I don't think I really want to deal with that.

Nope, most of the rules that apply to the undergrads don't apply elsewhere. It's part of the reason people get so worked up about them. You guys pay for the privilege though. :)

So, I can have guests after 12 without paying and letting people know the day before?

Given that the original rules never applied I can't imagine the new ones doing so either. A quick phone call will let you know for sure though, They can be contacted at 01 700 5736 or by mail at campus.residences@dcu.ie.

In case anyone else is curious...

I sent them an email, but haven't heard back yet. I did find the postgraduate accommodation terms and conditions online.

This is what is says about guests:
    Visitors
Occupiers are responsible for their visitors and will be held liable for their actions. Occupiers are not to permit visitors to remain overnight in or on any part of the Unit, Apartment or Complex unless specifically notified to the Operator in writing.

That's their bold, not mine. So, I'm assuming that means the same goes for the postgrads as it does for the undergrads.

Jesus, for the bones of €5k I would have thought they'd at least let you guys have guests.

    You'd think, wouldn't you?

Oh well. I guess I'll just be that creepy old person living around all the undergrads. ;) I'm friendly and I look young, so you might not even notice me...

BTW, which Shanowen would you recommend?

Oh I actually forgot to mention one important point regarding overnight guests in the postgrad areas. As you may know, said accommodation is not adjacent to the security checkpoint hence you are free to bring whomever you want into your apartment at any time. You're not meant to but you can. ;)

I actually have no idea how the security checkpoints work. Care to enlighten me?

Basically theres only one entrance into campus residences and that entrance is beside the security station. As a result, when you want to come in you have to go past it and after 12 they have a guard there making sure everyone who comes in is a resident. Post grad residences are in a different part of the campus hence who you bring isn't monitored.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I still don't know if it's worth it or not.
