Wii - stable / reliable yet?

I've never bought a console on the day of launch simply cos i tend to be quite convinced that a lot of launch-day consoles have problems, which are typically ironed out in the first 6 months.

So, i'd like to know of any reports of how stable the Wii is? Either the console you bought launch day or recently - any problems with it?

I'd be gutted if i went out and bought a Wii only to have it break down in the next few months or a day or two out of warranty (on that note, how long is the Wii's warranty - 12 months?).

The CycloWiz team have CONFIRMED that their chip is also incompatible with the D2B Panasonic chipset. The also mention that the chances of finding a Wii with the D2B chipset is higher if you purchased your Wii in late January/early February.

It is the same with wiinja... and the wiikey aint out yet...

Got mine launch day. No problems to speak of. Crashed (apparently) a couple of times between the menu and loading a channel. Cured by turning off the Wii by holding in the power button till it turns off, then turning it on again. No in-game crashes at all. Gets used (almost) every day, be that for a couple of hours of Zelda, a half hour here or there for Rayman or Wario Ware, or an hour or so of Red Steel, or a blast on any of the 6 VC games I've got (Bomberman, Donkey Kong Country, Gunstar Heroes, Super CastleVania, Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario World). Everything just works, no problems! :)

No issues here, but it doesn't get as much use as my 360.

No issues here and none of the people I know who bought one are having any issues. When I was playing Zelda TP it was on... a lot... the whole day. I just finished (re)playing Zelda WW on the Wii (instead of my GC) and again left it on for hours on end and no problem. Loaded all the updates (and extras like the newschannel) and no freezing or problems there either.

Didn't know Nintendo had a rep for faulty launch consoles... thought this Sony/MS territory.

I got the "system files are corrupted" as well but reformatting the system memory seems to have fixed it

Got mine on launchday and so far so there have been no problems at all. I use it pretty much every day, and if I'm playing Zelda that means several hours a day at least. I've downloaded all the updates too, without any hassle. So I'm very pleased with it... Go buy one!

no problems with my launch wii, or any other wii i know of. Nintendo don't sell beta consoles ;)

Got mine on launch day and no issues whatsoever. Gets played every day and is always connected to the net (well, it IS called Wii Connect 24) so go ahead, you won't be disappointed.

Five people in work have one now after playing mine and while they were surprised how long it took to download the system updates and channels (all together), they've reported no issues either.

Have mine since 5th Jan, no problems.

Got mine on launch day and I haven't had even a minor problem with it. Having said that I've never had (or known of) any problems with any Ninty console that I or my family/friends owned (going back as far as the NES) and my N64 and GC are still going strong. I wouldn't worry about it and just pick one up if you can.

Ive used mine since launch and I had it freeze once, when I laid it flat. It seemed to overheat.

However I use mine most days and not a problem since I have it on it's side (it is also in front of the radiator).

I unplug it at night though.

Had mine since Launch day and it tends to get turned on everyday and used for anything between 10mins to 3 hours. I've downloaded all the updates and never had any problems, no issues playing Wii, VC or GC games whatsoever. Get one. You won't regret it.
