    Hey all,

Was lookin at a few ibanez sites and came across this petition, dont know if it will actually do any good but it worth a shot.

Basically the petition is to get more colours for Ibanez guitars and possibly the reissue of discontinued colours.

    IBANEZ COLOUR PETITION

I personally would love more of a choice, esp with the RG series.

Compared to the 2006 lineup, Ibanezes 2007 lineup has been far more colourfull, so I think they're making a step in the right direction already.

By the way, you may want to fix that link. ;)

Ibanez is in business to make profits. They carefully monitor the sales of various models every year, and use that to help decide what models/colours to continue the next year, in what numbers, and what new models to introduce. Of course, every now and then, they dip their feet in with new brighter colours (like the new pink one), to get an idea of how string the sales would be.

For the last ten years or so, Ibanez have been churning out dark blues, greys, and a dozen different varieties of black. Presumably, they sell, your average bearded metal-head doesnt want a yellow or red guitar...

All the petitions in the world arent going to make Ibanez change they way they do business, they have been at it a long time, and have made a lot of money doing things the way they do them. If they think theres money to be made from brighter colours, they'll introduce them, if they don't, they wont.

Surely if they want to sell guitars then loads of people petitioning in would indicate that there's a demand. Just depends on how big a demand. But im guessing that if someone bothered to put together a petition then there's got to be some demand. Unless there's a huge response, yeah you're probably right, im sure that they're sound business people, they might not pay attention to the petition per se. But at the same time, a shrewd business man might try a publicity stunt by bringing back a few of the old favourites and give the company a more nostalgic/vintage/sentimental image than it already has

-Any idiot can sign a petition, it has no bearing over whether they will or even can afford to buy a particular guitar. The only vote that counts is when people vote with their wallets.

-Someone bothering to put together a petiton has no bearing over worldwide demand for a guitar. Again, any idiot can start any petition for anything.. I know the guy who started the petition, he's got far too much time on his hands:rolleyes:

-Ibanez are reissuing the RG in the original colours (red/yellow/black). They may guage how popular the colours are by the sales, but they would be idiots if they did that, as most will be bought by collectors (due to the limited run) Note that they are producing the same number of black ones as the red and yellow put together

-People are stupid, and dont know what they want. Look at the Jem20th - its creation was like the Simpsons episode with the 'funzo' toy. The kids on Jemsite spent a couple of years going 'oooh it should be see-thru', 'ooh i should have lights inside, that would be cool!', 'how about a 3D swirl!' and all these other stupid ideas. When Ibanez listened and built it, they all whined about how crap it was...

Seriously, leave it to Ibanez. If black is the best seller, they'll keep making tonnes of them, whether you or me like it or not. Take your money elsewhere, or look for second hand models if you dont like the current range.

I kinda like Bill Steer's Red 1550, which seems to be one of the reissue colours, but a white one would really grab my attention.
