NTL Analog Aspect Ratio

    Hi All,

I'm having to get the NTL analogue service installed in my new house as the MMDS line of sight survey failed and I can't put a dish up on an old house.

What aspect ratio do they transmit the terristrial channels in? Also, what about the likes of Sky News?

An an alternative, if I upgrade to NTL Digital, would this make a difference, even though I don't need the extra channels?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

    Nick

Yes, generally 14:9 letterboxed, though it can vary with programs. Most US shows will be 4:3, Sky News is cropped 4:3, and a lot of sports are 4:3.

You won't get any anamorphic 16:9 if that's what you're looking for, unless the channel's broken (which happens frequently with Chorus  ).

actually you reminded me of something

ntl in Waterford used to show BBC, UTV and C4 in 4:3 from time to time when the reception from NI went bad
