Hi I'm just curious to know if any places are interested in hiring models in the Cork area? I have no experience but have been told to definitely consider it. Would some people pay you or is it a case of getting the copy of the photo as well?
    Thanks.

Very much depends. If you are an established model then it would be unfair to expect you not to get paid, if it was an established photographer then it would be unfair for them not to get paid for doing the shoot.

If you are both starting off then what you should be aiming for is for you to get prints in exchange for your time. The photographer also gets to use the stuff they shoot of you and you can both expand your portfolios.

    Indeed.

Do you know any photographers that would take some photos for your portfolio?

    Hi Gretchen.
You're in the lucky position of being located in Cork. Photographers are crying out for models for TFP (Time For Prints), or, more commonly nowadays, TFCD.

It's unlikely you'll walk into a paid job. A good place to start is www.imapp.com - it's a site for models and photographers. A good place to get started. Get your portfolio up by doing TFCD with a photographer - you both get to use the photos for your own portfolios if you do this.

    Good luck!

Thanks again guys. I'm actually a 19 year old male (the username throws people off :P) and 6"2/3 and of slim build. I'm actually available next week as I'm on mid-term from college I have no proper photos available at the moment but if anybody in the Cork area is interested send me a PM.

Hi - makes no odds if you're a girl or not, except that male models are more rare. Get a profile set up on imapp.

if you want to do some really high quality shots for your portfolio but you'd have to pay something for the photographers time and skill

www.misslili.net is the person i'd reccomend for fashion shoots like that, e-mail her and ask her, what her rates are

I disagree. Unless you have a face only a mother could love, you can definitely find a skilled photographer to do TFP/TFCD.
