It seems fairly tight from what i've seen, and if its only one prize for first how would people feel about loosening things up or do you thing stacks are too shallow for the most part?

What did you have when you went all-in just before the break? I'd agree with you about shoving man, think you'll need to soon if you want to get the ticket. Or else get a bit looser if everyone keeps playing tight?

    Meh, I'm sh1t anyway...

good luck man, my advice would be to get yourself in a position to win the thing, there is no need to be lookin at average stack etc, but you dont need to be a hero too early either, steal in position but dont be afraid to throw away mediocre hands. get your chips in first and ask the questions rather than be stuck making decisions for your. best of luck mate!

    Go on MSN

unlucky had a rake of outs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

last hand mark raised x3 bb to 15000 next player to act with same chips as mark pushs chip leader with twice the chips of two previous players calls mark folds.

Chip leader has 66 other guy has 10 10 and tens hold up.

Crazy call by chip leader imo.

and just like that im gone in 5th, fair few outs on river tho

The key hand i felt was when there was 6 left blinds are 2500/5000 i raise in cut off to 15k with kh9h. button shoves for 46k and sb calls or shoves for the same amount i cant remember. i fold and they had 1010 88 and i wouldve nailed flush to go chip leader by 50kish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

yeah thats a bad lay down. 3.5/1 or something like that.

ul on the result, these tournaments are the worst value games on the internet, the 1 place paying tournies that is.

equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 24.453% 24.14% 00.32% { Kh9h }
    Hand 1: 30.630% 29.41% 01.22% { 22+, A8s+, KQs, QJs, AJo+, KQo, 87o }
    Hand 2: 44.917% 43.68% {88+,AQs+,AQo+}

you need 4-1 to call here. Also i see from your MSN your listening to "stop Crying" haha how appopriate!

i guess if it's a sat you probably should just gamble it up.

the guy that put you just won the ticket

you need 4-1 to call here.

this isnt a cash game. we have to consider our chances to win if we call vs win if we fold. but in saying that, you calculation shows that this is +cEV, we are getting 3.5/1 on a 3/1 shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,404 ✭✭✭Goodluck2me

well our chances of winning if we call are 27% and our chances of goin out are 73%. its all relative to what is being offered, i dont see this as a cash game but fundamental poker practices still apply here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

nah, just like it can be correct to fold aces in a sat it can be correct to get it all-in without the correct odds.

if he wins the pot he's cl with a significent chance of taking the ticket, 2/3 times more likely than if he folds?

Console yourself with the fact that had you called, the RNG would've thrown up some other random sh it.

    probably KK9 though

i edited my post above. we are getting 3.5/1 on a 3/1 shot according to your calculations.

In this situation, if we fold we are going to have 7 BBs left and the big stack immeiately to our left, which is a major problem. what is the average at this stage?

we could prob work out a rough % chance of OP taking it down after the fold, but i would assume <12%, would need an idea of the other stacks tho

FWIW i t hink he should have called too, but i was just doing the maths on a fold. it wouldnt be the worst fold ever, but with so much of your stack out and so much to be gained it has to be a call.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 909 ✭✭✭AKQJ10

Okay so i went back to look at the hand history today and have all the stack sizes and positions.

There are 5 left with only first getting the 8k package.

    Blinds 2500/5000
    SB 98k
    BB 124k
    UTG 30K
    Hero 51k
    Button 46k

UTG folds and its around to me and i raise to 15k with Kh9h.
Button pushes for 46k and SB flat calls. BB folds and its around to me??????
    I have 31k left behind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

call and hope not to be dominated to the max.

Also type i'm oirish in the chat box before you press call..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,696 ✭✭✭Hectorjelly

You should of just pushed all in in the first place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

Yeah looking at the stacks anything less than an open-shove(bar folding) is bad. If the SB had like 50k or less then you should call all in as played.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,404 ✭✭✭Goodluck2me

You should of just pushed all in in the first place
is K9h suitable for this kind of shove? or should it be any two at this stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,083 ✭✭✭RoundTower

the idea of playing differently in a sat generally refers to a tourney where the top x number of players all get the same prize, so there is no pressing need to come first. This is the opposite, here #chips you have is very very close to proportionate to your chance of winning.

shoving first time isn't necessarily right, you didn't give enough information. For example if you and the BB both had 100k in this hand I think this would be spewy and a raise to 15k would be fine, just means you have to call when someone pushes for 30k more.

even if you raised it to 15K and everybody folded to the BB he is likely to call with any 2 cards due to his stack size and the pot odds.
(It is only costing him 10K to see a 30 K pot)
Nothing wrong with shoving with K9. No point pussy footing around with it at this stage of the game.
