    Hi there,

About to make the transition from online, to a live tourny.

I play 2-3 times a week online, mostly cash and STT's

    Doing OK, so far.

What I dont want to do is sit down and look like a complete numptoid, plusI dont want to ruin the game for anyone else either.

Any tips that may be obvious, that may trip me up?

    Thanks in advance

    M

Dont string bet, Ie. dont splash chips over the line when raising (this will be construed (sp?) as a call), announce raise and the amount you want to raise to then put chips in, this will avoid any confusion.

(with regards to cash games) Also it will be pot limit you are playing so just say pot if you want to bet the max and the dealer will then tell you how much to put in it....

(with regards to cash games or if you get deep in the money during a tournement) Its good to tip the dealer roughly 5% if you win a decent pot.

I was playing last night and was getting really iritated with this lad who seemed to be on the phone to his mistress for half the night, just eating up time and not acting promptly when it was his turn (I am not the type to cause a fuss but thought that maybe he should of been requested by the dealer to take his phone calls outside) So just act promptly and be polite and you shouldnt have a problem, if you have any questions and go about them in a polite manner all dealers should help you with the ropes.

I'm sure i'm leaving something out as i'm relatively knew to playing cash games live myself.

    Good luck and have fun.

Feck just read your post properly and see that you were talking about playing a live tournement, well the previous might be a bit of help if you decide to dabble in some cash action.

The string betting/ announcing bet, raise etc is probably the only thing I see newcomers to live poker caught out on regularly.
