Have a new laptop, Dell Inspiron 1605 or somethig like that, got a few add ons when ordering it, to bring the total cost to about 1300 euro, and had it merely 3-4 weeks and it fell, breaking the screen.

What is my next step?? i was told that it will cost me an arm and a leg to get a new screen, almost the price of the laptop itself, what are my options???

to i jus cough up the dough?? sell it off as parts and but a new one or what??

Please help, as when it comes to something like this, i dont have a clue!

    thanks very much in advance!

    Donal

Would it be covered on your house insurance?

i didnt do anything insurance wise, im looking into tryin to "put" it under other content insurances etc, but it aint looking to good at the moment.

i presume the warantee will only cover a fault in the product as apposed to a mistake i made myself!!! (it falling)

anyone tried to rectify this problem themselves, ie buy in a screen from somewhere else etc??

The Warranty won't cover accidental damage unless you specifically bought that extra insurance Dell sell covering said damages. One option is to put it on House Insurance, leave it sitting around for awhile and then claiming.

Other then that you can plug it into an external monitor and use it as a desktop, or you could just do that while you wait to claim on it.

Not sure if this will help but I had the same problem with me inspiron 6400. My house insurance (Allianz) covered it. the loss adjuster got a company called MBT to mend it. It's an ok job but the main thing is that I have it back working fine. You should try your insurance.
