Sound Skipping Problems

    Whenever i play any sort of sound file be it mp3 or sound as part of a video file i get skipping. Its happens every 5 seconds or so and its so annoying. My sound set up is the Realtek AC97 onboard device. I have updated to the latest drivers.It happens no matter what software i use. If anyone can help me fix this id be so grateful.
