Bizarre and annoying Email problem

I regularly email Dublin radio station Phantom 105.2 and up until the beginning of January I was using my Eircom account via Mail. Then all of a sudden emails sent via by Eircom account stopped being delivered to Phantom. No problem with any other email address but anything sent to any @phantom.ie address simply disappeared, no notification of failed delivery they just vanished. I've been using my gmail account ever since but I decided to give it another try the other day. I sent 3 mails one from Mail one from Thunderbird and one from the Eircoms webmail service. The Mail and Thunderbird emails again did not make it through but the one sent via webmail got through no problem. This seems to indicate that its my Mac itself that is causing the problem.

I'm currently using a Netopia USB wireless card because of all the problems I've had with airport (random dropouts) and while I was using it for a month before this problem started it would seem an obvious culprit, but in all honestly I'm completely stumped.

Does anyone have any idea what on earth might be causing this problem?

Just to clarify: you sent emails, using your G-MAIL account, through Mail & Thunderbird that didn't get delivered?
Have you tried sending through G-mail over browser?

No, the trouble is with my Eircom account. I only ever use Gmail through my browser so I can't honestly say if using Thunderbird and Mail might cause it to fail as well.

This would have to be eircoms problem.
If your able to send to other addresses with mail.app then it's not local.
If your able to send via gmail then it's not a phantom.ie problem.

I checked eircoms DNS server and it seems to know about phantom.ie MX.

A test of ericoms mail server shows:

    >telnet mail1.eircom.ie 25
    Trying 159.134.20.11...
    Connected to mail1.eircom.ie.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    h220-mail1.eircom.ie ESMTP
    220 eircom MAIL APPLIANCE
    mail from:test@eircom.ie
    250 sender <test@eircom.ie> ok
    rcpt to:test@phantom.ie
    550 #5.1.0 Address rejected.
    quit
    221 mail1.eircom.ie
    Connection closed by foreign host.

This is some relay blocking thing, which is normal for email servers (or should be).
Did you make sure you checked your mail before sending?
Also are you connected to the internet through an eircom account when you try and send?

    mh

    I am connected via Eircom.

I always check my mails before sending. The address is correct. As I say mails sent from Eircom webmail seem to get through. Emails from mail or Thunderbird never get delivered.

Eircom say its a problem with Phantom, Phantom say they don't know what the problem is but its not with them. At least I know for sure my mails aren't being mistakenly targeted by their spam filters.

Update. Emails have just started getting through again for no apparent reason..

    This is absolutely bizarre.
