    Well, sort of.

As some of you know, I took a bit of a gamble picking up a second hand Bacchus off the u-box a while back. I hadn't heard of them, but did some checking up and they have a reputation as some of the finest basses to come out of Japan. Score! It was good enough for me to pretty much retire my old ESP 400 jazz from #1 spot. So anyway, I've done a fair bit of selling recently and when I came across another one at around the price of a Mexican Fender I fought it and I fought it some more but I still lost. I am GAS's bitch.

So here's the pics, this one is the Venus model, ash body, maple neck, rosewood board, bound all over. The old one is the 02 Standard 5.

    With Bacchus #1

Gotta dig that body. Controls are Vol, Blend, Treble cut/boost, Bass cut/boost

No dots, no nothin, just binding

    I love that logo :D

Tell me you're bringing that tomorrow! Love the blank fretboard.

Don't make me shake my fist in a banning motion! :D

That is flat-out gorgeous. One issue is, it needs a maple fretboard with trapezoid inlays, à la the 75 Jazz. Pretty much the ideal then. Chris had a Geddy Lee like that and it gave me serious cramps...

It is perfection. There is always room for another with a maple board :p

Very true, very true. It certainly looks like an absolute masterpiece, I really must say.

It's got different pickups and preamp to the other one, sounds a bit more aggressive, a bit skankier. I like that :p

Sounds like my kinda bass. :)

I really need a 5 fretless. I was thinking of popping the frets out of this before I got it but now... now I don't know.

Don't fix what ain't broken kinda mentality? Could pick up a Mex Fender, or even a Jap one, at a decent price, and make a project of it. Or just buy a fretless. :p

    That is awesome indeed.

What you need to do now, is take both of 'em, strap one lower than the other, and play 'em both legato at the same time.

    That is a beautiful bass.

After playing it for four hours, I can confirm that it's possibly the finest bass ever crafted

Ah man, having a pre is a beautiful thing, when used with a subtle touch. Start with everything flat and gently adjust to taste. Wonderful :D
