You'd look well in this yoke, wouldn't you!? :)

Iwear for iPod is a lightweight set of glasses designed to plug into the bottom dock of your video iPod. You pop them on, set the two earpieces into a comfortable position, dial up your favourite movie and start watching - it's as simple as that.

Two dials allow you to set the focus to match corrective lenses, if you need them.

Icuiti describes the experience as having a 44" television hovering 9 feet in front of your eyes. In practice, it's not exactly the same: you are still looking at twin 320x240 displays just in front of your eye, so some pixelation is still evident.

However as an immersive experience, it totally beats watching your iPod in your hand. The iWear set does a good job of screening out the outside world, unlike other units of this type which intentionally allow you to focus on what's going on around you.

With your eyes and ears totally connected to the video image and sound, you can enjoy the experience without distraction. A big advantage for commuters, for example, assuming you don't mind the stares. Or you could be lying in bed without having to prop yourself up to watch a TV.

IWear was launched at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and is an evolution of earlier models from the same company, which were bulkier and used an external battery pack.

Its simplicity is impressive: there is no software to install, simply set your Video iPod's video out and you're set to go. It runs for as long as your iPod's battery can play video, which is 3 to 7 hours depending on the model.

If you travel a lot, and enjoy bringing movies with you to pass the time, iWear is a truly worthwhile iPod accessory. For sheer gadget appeal, it's got lots of give-us-a-go factor, as long as you don't mind sitting on the Dart looking like you stepped off the set of Star Trek. The iWear for iPod is available from Icuit.com for $299.
