Hi folks, my ZEN touch won't play .m4a files, i have heard no ZENS will
only IPODs, my question, anyone know software that will convert .m4a -> .mp3
    such as LAME ?
allthough LAME doesn't work in this case ..

    Thanks

If your running ITunes it can convert from MP4 -> MP3.

You can actually set which format that ITunes imports CDs in with, by default it's MP4, I'm guessing this is how you have all the MP4 files.

Alternatively have you tried this? - http://www.google.ie/search?q=m4a+to+mp3

dBPowerAMP should do the trick, free and quick.

Hope FlexiMusic Wave Editor would help in converting the m4a files to Mp3. To save the file as Mp3, need to install a separate command line Mp3 encoder/ decoder. Lame win 32 will be of use.

It ain't free I'm afraid, you do get a free 2week trial but that has limited codec support... of course there are other avenues one could take to obtain a copy of dbpoweramp...

btw, i have dbpoweramp, it is brilliant.

Very few daps play .mp4 (AAC), sony's newer ones do, the MS zune does and the new archos players do (through optional plugin)
