    Hi, does anybody else think that Galway is seriously lacking on the poker scene? For one thing the town's main casino (the corrib) doesn't seem to offer any proper tournament structure apart from the odd sun/mon nite freezeout where only 4 players turn up. I find myself buying into a wild drunken cash game then where most players have to be constantly reminded what the big blind is.
    The 4 aces casino is a bit more up to scratch on its tourney structure but it is a shocking unwelcoming place to stumble into. Gotta love the owners cashing out customers out of their pockets though- very classy ;)
    And that is about it! Does anyone else know of an alternative venue in galway that doesn't involve joe pesci style management or post nightclub drunken cash games?

    I think the 4aces is ok, never been to the corrib.

    I'm thinking of running a decent structure tournament in the Galway area but don't know how much support it would get. Do you think there is the demand for another tournament on top of the Westwood and 4 aces?

    By the way I'm in Sligo this Sunday, 1pm in the Adelaide Casino for a €200 + €20 freezeout.....blatant advertising I know.

    If you want a regular low buy-in tournament to play, the aces is your only spot. They generally get 2 cash games each night, one full of drunks, students and drunk students, with €100 between them. The other one is usually a solid, enjoyable game of poker, with a couple of fish to keep it going. This, however needs money...€400+ IMO.

    hey carfax, would be nice alright to have a not so pricy tournament without a blind structure that rapes people. I've only played in the 4A though.

    in fairness the monday night touirny in the corrib is good 100 buy in 500 added and about 25/30 runners

    garvey's pub ar holding poker events now on sunday nights i think, sounds gud, top ten finishers get ticket 2 to westwood events because there ridiculously priced, its only 25 yoyo's to enter also

    very surprised to hear of the 4aces described as a bad place to stumble into. I've always enjoyed my visits to the place. Usualy good cash games there too...westwood is gettin good numbers now on a wednesday i think but i never liked that tournie...in an odd coincidence i've nevere cashed in it either, weird that!! :rolleyes:
